Are you perhaps confusing the military alteration from rimfire to centerfire, as having RF/CF interchangeability? The Danes intended the change to CF to be permanent and made no special firing pin that was reversible.

Please provide basic information such as: caliber (rimfire or centerfire), barrel length (muzzle to breech block) and shape of barrel (round or octagonal). Also, is the maker's name stamped in two lines or three? It would help if you added photos.

As a long time collector, I have seen VERY few. They were all finished "in the white." Might you be seeing the normal aging process on a rifle that was often cleaned and well cared for?

What are the patent markings -- or at the least, how many lines? Barrel length? Can you post a full length photo, right side? Also, photo of the band marking?

At first glance, this appears to be a cut down rifle, as evidenced by the incorrect front sight and the place in the buttstock for a sling swivel plate. The forestock is from a Navy M1867 carbine-- these are readily available for purchase as surplus parts.
