Re: Navy fake Carbine #2: Range Report & Photos
Carbine rear sights are often available on GunBroker.com. But you have to look at lots of pictures to see the differences in the original sight leaves for .50 RF, .50-70, .43 Spanish.

Re: Remington Collection Inventory
Some members have such a list. What is/was the tag number? That's essential. Also, what markings and/or makers name is on the gun?

Re: Can anyone identify what this is?
You have a shotgun made from a Remington Model 1867 Swedish military rifle. It was common in the late 1800s and early 1900s in Sweden to "remanufacture" obsolete military rifles into sporting arms. This gun was originally one of 10,000 rifles actually made by Remington in the USA in 1867-8.

Re: Help Identifying a family RB
The frame of this carbine was made by Remington 1871-1879. Before 1871 the breech block was different, after 1879 the interface edges to the stocks had an added fillet. The sliding extractor is also, generally pre-1880 -- though it was used on carbines to a later date. The caliber appears to be .50 ...

Re: No 1 Rolling Block Light Baby Carbine
Yours appears to have a correct sporting buttplate, with a gently rounded heel. A military buttplate would have what looks like a cast flat plate that wraps around the heel. Flayderman's is a good start for value, and photos, followed by searching the web for "for sale" Baby Carbine models.

Re: No 1 Rolling Block Light Baby Carbine
Flayderman is wrong. This carbine was based on the slightly thinner 1-1/2 sporting rifle frame, and a true Light Baby Carbine will have that model's sporting type buttplate, not a military type.

Re: No 1 Rolling Block Light Baby Carbine
In-person inspection by an experienced collector would be necessary. The fact that the plating has flaked off, and that no copper pre-plating is evident, seems to indicate a non-factory plating job.

Re: No 1 Rolling Block Light Baby Carbine
The only positive way to ID a pre1899 carbine is by the company name "E.Remington& Sons" on the frame tang - this marking was used only thru 1888, when that company failed. After that, "Remington Arms Company" was stamped thru the end of production. The last recorded sale was...

Re: Help me ID this
These refinished and rebuilt rifles and carbines were imported in the 1950s and 60s. They were advertised in the American Rifleman and other mags for cheap prices, as shooters.

Re: Help me ID this
Your "carbine" also looks to be a remanufactured rifle. It lacks the sling ring on the left side of the frame, and has sling swivels on the buttstock and band like a rifle does. Also, the forestock is too long to be that of a carbine- check if you can see the original ramrod/clearing rod s...

Also, is the breech block only centerfire, or is it rimfire convertible? Remington and Hartley & Graham sold convertible carbines to Mexico into the 1890s.

Re: Rem. Rolling Block S/R Carbine,50-45, Ident.Help (PHOTOS
Except for the rear sight, this appears to be a standard, late production carbine. The tang marking dates to post-1888, when "E. Remington & Sons" became the "Remington Arms Co.," as marked on the tang.

Re: Rem. Rolling Block S/R Carbine,50-45, Ident.Help (PHOTOS
This is a post-1880 carbine by the frame characteristics. Note the barrel was measured from the frame, so 19" is likely correct -- not a cut down. The rear sight is not the type usually found on a Remington carbine.
