RB #1 Sporter ....No Tang Markings? Please Advise
I just received this sporter through an auction. It has everything a #1 sporter should and looks totally honest. Full octagon and squared off receiver (flats). Metal has browned but no rust. Receiver has very feint CCH signs and is brown. Serial is 16xx and underside of barrel is marked 44S which is...

I Found This RB at a gunshow and?
Don't have a clue. It had a bout a 32 in round barrel, military style with bands. No sling through triggerguard. The tang was marked with the usual Remington, etc and patent dates. The receiver had no markings ANYWHERE on side, tang, triggerguard, barrel, bands. Now get this. The action and barrel ha...

Stock Compatibility: 1964 vs current
I have a 700 carbine in 6mm that I plan on rigging up for my grandson. I know that Remington made some minor changes over the years to barrel diameters, etc. So, I'm wondering if a current Remington youth stock or one of the aftermarket stocks will fit it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

700 adl carbine
Saw it at the Tulsa gunshow yesterday and it was bout 95% condition. Serial 29xxx so it was a first year gun. Chambered in 222 RMag. Dealer wanted $895  for it and didn't even blink. Wow! I thought he was about $300 or so too high so I passed on it. Paid $500 last year for a dead mint 65 Adl ...

Rule of thumb prices for early 700 stocks
This would be the type 62 (early 6 digit serial) Adl and Bdl stocks.
Assuming nice condition, what should I pay for these. Ran on to a fellow that has a few for sale.

No, they aren't considered rare, but its getting harder to find them in really nice condition. Also, there appears to be a growing clique of target shooters that are taking these fine guns, regardless of condition, and turning them into M40 snipers. Now, if you have a 280, 222 rem mag, or 6mm they a...

I had the second&third digits juxtaposed. It's 106xxx not 160xxx so its about a 64 gun.
Sorry!

700 Carbine? ---Not According to Lacy's Book
Came into an ADL carbine, .243, with 20 in barrel of course with a serial of 160xxx, which dates it to 1965. According to Lacy, they stopped carbines in 1964. Pretty sure this is not a re-barrel. Wondering if this compliments the old adage of never say never and there are always overlaps. Anyone els...

You might try http://www.gunsamerica.com . This is not an auction just guns for sale so the prices are sometimes a little inflated. There are lots of listings. If your gun is unfired and in the box, an individual might have to pay 6-7 hundred.......you'll get less from a dealer.
