Re: 552 Barrel Markings
The finish is plain, but it does not state ADL or BDL. The sights are the old-style, dovetail, not screw-on. No checkering.

552 Barrel Markings
Just picked up a minty Model 552 Speedmaster. Gorgeous rifle in all aspects. It is marked as "KY" for build date, and I assume that's May 1974, not May 2004. But on the barrel LHS just ahead of the receiver is the marks [32] where the "[" is a vertical line, also the closing brac...

Good news! I'm a .32 Remington fan and am building up a stock for a fun, light-shooting rifle.

No offense taken. This place can be slow. I fall out of the habit of checking myself because it is sloooooooooooooooooooow at times.

Re: MAY BUY A VERY RARE REM 7MM-06 ONLINE, WHATS THE VALUE?
Well, who knows if "Remington" is the actual company, or some guy on GB using that as part of his moniker. I've had that happen on various audio forums that people misrepresent themselves, or on eBay ALL the time.

Re: Nylon 66 says L 8 on barrel?
The easiest way is to either use a photo-hosting site like Photobucket, or to post ir on a cloud site like DropBox and provide a link to it.

Re: Nylon 66 says L 8 on barrel?
"LB" would have been February, 1981 for a date of manufacture as the valid code inside the Nylon 66's manufacturing era. Can you post a close-up pic? Is the "L8" ahead of the manufacture date stamp?

Re: Remington Model 7 -vs- Winchester M70 Featherweight
Thanks, but those solutions wouldn't have solved the original dilemma. Another rifle doesn't fix the issue of having one in the safe that I never use/never shoot. Replacing it with one that I do use at a good return on my original investment solves each issue. Let someone else have it that will use ...

Re: Remington Model 7 -vs- Winchester M70 Featherweight
Well, it's done. Took the M70 to my LGS-dealer and am waiting for the Remington Model 7 to be delivered. Even he swooned over the wood on the M70 but it was just too nice to crawl thru the woods with. A synthetic stock, SS rifle will be much more useful.

Remington Model 7 -vs- Winchester M70 Featherweight
I have had a Win Model 70 Featherweight in .308 for a long time, but I rarely hunt with it because the wood is just too darn nice. What good is a rifle like that? I already own two Model 7's (.243, 7mm-08) and while the calibers may duplicate a bit, I have my eye on a Model 7 Stainless in .308 with ...

Re: Vintage Tasco Scope on Remington 788
The 1982 and 1983 Remington-DuPont Retail Catalog shows the 788 with a Tasco 4x scope as part of a package deal, item number 9815 in .308 Winchester like mine. My 788 was manufactured in 1977 and the earlier catalogs show the rifle offered with a "4x fixed power scope" but no mention is ma...
