Re: Model 14 question

So under the thumbnail safety would it be bottom left side is a little switch or lever devise "very small" and on back side of the thumbnail safety there is a notch it fits behind. Is that switch or lever supposed to be spring loaded ?? John

Re: Model 14 question

Thanks for getting back to me. I figured something must have been missing. Like I said it works but I think a good jar would knock it off safety !! I guess I will leave it be for now as it does have the other safety that works good. Thank you ! John Taylor

Model 14 question

I have two model 14s with the thumbnail type safeties. One has a definite click when you move it up and down but the other is a very loose feeling almost a smooth up and down. It seems like no detent or something ??? It does work and the one with no click also has the cross bar safety behind the tri...

Sad news about Gene Myszkowski

I was sad when I started reading this last Remington Journal and saw that Gene Myszkowski had passed away after a short illness. I didn't know Gene other than many phone calls and emails about different engraved Remington rifles. He went into his old Remington Day books from Robert Runge looking up ...

Re: Remington model 720

I did a little bit of exploring and found the under side of butt plate is also stamped with serial number as is wood under plate as well as barrel channel !! Also some hand written initials in receiver channel similar to many Remington's I have owned probably inspector marks.

Remington model 720

Here is my newest gun purchase. Before buying it I searched the forum for information on it and only found a small bit of info on a post of 720 stocks made way back in 2010. I also looked in John Lacy's book where he has a small chapter on the 720. He has some random serial numbers listed in his boo...

Re: 700 C grade early model information

Sounds like a nice gun !! On page 186 in John Lacy's book under random serial numbers and dates 268XXX would fit into the 1967 category but being out of the custom shop that can vary a bit. The 26" barrel was discontinued in 1970 and they went to 24" in 1971. 1969 was first year bolts were...

Re: Forum activity

Mike I feel your pain !! Lol !! I guess this forum is more for technical problems and trouble shooting problems with your guns. There are some guys here that know 141s, 14s and 8s and 81s pretty well so any issues they will jump in but as far as showing your collection or comparing your guns with ot...
