Re: Remington "lightweight" Hammerless SxS's?
Most of my Remington Arms Co. catalogs give 12-gauge weights as 7 to 8 3/4 pounds. Some of the later catalogs give 6 3/4 to 8 3/4 pounds when they began listing 26-inch barrels under certain grades. Then there is this 1908 vintage KE-Grade, 12-gauge, 26-inch, hang tag at 6 1/2 pounds -- KE hang tag ...

Re: Remington !! barrel chamber length
The Remington Model 11/The Sportsman, introduced in 16-gauge in 1931, were made for 2 3/4 inch shells from the get go. While Remington's 16-gauge Nitro Express load was put up in the up to that time "standard" 2 9/16 inch shell, 3 drams equiv. 1 1/8 ounce -- 16-gauge Nitro-Express 1934 to ...

Re: Remington High Grades for sale
My "working class" upbringing doesn't allow playing in that range. I'm saving money waiting for a D or E quality 10-gauge to surface. I've never seen/recorded a 10-gauge above CEO-Grade.

Yeah, listed as "99%" and "best on planet?" has a number of improperly refinished parts, and even was listed as refinished in the June 2003, Bonhams Auction catalog. AAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGG!!

When you find such a gunsmith, let us know. I picked up a 26-inch CYL barrel for my 28-inch FULL 1936 vintage 16-gauge that needs fitting.

I could never understand why Charles wasted a couple pages of his book on guns marked with a roll-stamp that had exceeded its useful life. Pretty much ho hum and so what!

Re: Model 11 with factory polychoke
Rare may be an overstatement, but scarce for sure. The Model 11 and The Sportsman were introduced in 16-gauge in 1931. Factory integral Poly-Chokes were first offered by Remington Arms Co., Inc. in the January 19, 1940, catalog --

Re: Model 31 12 ga pump with US Ordnance Markings
The Model 31 12-gauge receiver with serial number 39635 was put in production during November 1940. I have a couple of Model 31s with the RLB and the bomb, a cobbled together gun with a receiver in the 37xxx range with different serial numbers on the barrel and trigger group and this all matching nu...

Re: Model 31 20ga barrel question
Full choke seems to be far and away the most common choke found on Model 31s, so opening one up certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings. I find modified, improved cylinder and SKEET more useful to me. Don't have such an issue with my 20-gauge Model 31 as someone long ago put a Cutts Compensator on it!!

Re: manufacture date of model 11
About all that can be accurately stated is that 16-gauge Sportsman 1556255 is a post-WW-II gun. The old factory ledger for the 16-gauge Model 11/Sportsman serial numbers ends June 30, 1942 at 1551120. What is the date code on the barrel?

The company name actually changed more. It was prefaced with "The" and the hyphen was gone.In 1916, they added the word "incorporated," in small print, under the Rem-UMC line.

I don't think I'm having a senior moment, but I seem to recall there was a period of time that the .410-bore and 28-gauge Model 870s and Model 1100s came with Mahogany stocks and forearms.
