Re: Old Double Barrel continued

Gypsyjon, Send me an email and I'll try to help you through your questions with the help of Mr. Semmer's book. Some of the 1894's were also patterned with shot sizes other than #8's. Also, a major qualifying condition of the value of your gun will depend on barrel condition and wall thickness. Will

Re: Old Double Barrel continued

Gypsyjon, You have a very nice DE. I also own one with the same Damascus (Legia P) pattern barrels. When I spoke with the late Charlie Semmer regarding mine shortly before his death he had recorded 41 D's and 44 E's. Please feel free to contact me by email and I'll send you some photos of the barrel...

Re: Model 31-t

Tony,

That would be an Early "Target" Model 31.

I do not have any Catalogues that give me the description, but you may PM Researcher he has an affinity for the 31.

Re: Remington M 10 Trap Grade "D" engraving

I have seen examples go for what I've considered very reasonable prices with less problems, and within a week see a wreck sell for 3 times that. The market on these older Remington guns is very unpredictable in my experience. That being said, the one I have could be a brother of yours although a tad...

Re: Nitro Club Shotshells with Ballistite Powder

I believe there is an empty box on eBay right now.

The Nitro Club designation was X then a charge number corresponding to a powder dram equivalent, then B for Ballistite, then shot size and type C for chilled.

Ie. X10B7C for Nitro Club, 3.5 drams, 7 shot Chilled

Re: English stocked model 11

mjmhunter, The serial number puts the guns production in 1912, according to Jim Tipton's research. In the 1911-1912 Catalogue the gun is referred to as the Model No. 11 No. 3 "Trap Grade". The "C" designation didn't come until a year or two later. Like I pointed out on ShotgunWor...

Re: 3200 live pigeon gun

Congratulations, I know you've been looking for a while.

The most reported number that I have seen is approximately 250 between 1979-1983 from Fjestad.

Does it have nice wood?

Re: Help identifying a Browning A-5

According to Vanderlinden and Shirley, the A5 would have been shipped in the first half of 1937.

Did the Browning Historian say that the records for your gun were available?

I know of a 1938 gun that has a Browning letter.

Re: Acquired a Model 11..

Pop, Sorry I couldn't get to the pictures either. Normally you assumption would be correct, however, many times Model 11's have had a barrel replaced at some point in their lives. Since date and repair codes appear on the barrel most of the time, only the age and repair date apply to that barrel at ...

Re: Inconsistanies Dating Model 11

Rattler, Like Researcher suggests the quickest way to know what period the barrel is from is to look at the Manufacture's Stamping (Barrel Address). What does it say? The barrel may have a serial number stamped on the Barrel Ring Ramp, but you will have to disassemble to see. This is not conclusive ...

According to Jim Tipton's research 63,465 ended 1908 and the rest of the 60K serial numbers were produced in 1909.

Re: Remington Repeating Shotgun/Model 10

2ManyRems, If you look at the barrel SN on that gunbroker listing you will see that the barrel is 223,524. Most likely the receiver was miss stamped, human error imagine that. Lol The earliest photo I have of the serial number on the side of the receiver is sn 234,5xx. Hope this restores your faith ...

Re: Remington Model 11 seems all mixed up

TBAZ66, Not sure where you saw your reference but every Model 11 I have photos of up to SN 257,83X are stamped at the loading port. The earliest SN I have with side stamping is SN 276,47X. Hope this helps. The date stamps on the gun are followed by a 3 mean that the gun was accepted for service on t...
