40X

I think they are riding a wave of popularity following the CMP release. Too bad a lot of speculators bought 40X's and 40XB's for resale. On Gunbroker and GunsAmerica you see them listed at $800 plus. Maybe a pristine 40X with sights might be worth that but not the average condition rifle. But then t...

barrel fit

721, 722, and 725 are all basically the same. Barrels will switch. However the indexing with sights straight up and headspacing usually requires setting back the barrel 1 thread. Except for that, your 721 without the swell at the rear sight is just like the 725 except for the hooded front ramp. The ...

721 bolt

721 bolt bodies were made in two pieces with a fine line joint about 3/8" back of the lugs. I hope this is what you see. Have a good gunsmith check it out to be sure. The date info you have is right on.

The serial number is on the left side front receiver ring or the very early made ones (like the first 30,000 or so made in 1948) had the number inside the left bolt locking lug channel above the follower. Anything else is not regular. The date code stamped on the barrel just in front of the left sid...

Thanks - I have a rebarreled 721 in 280 with a weak holding extractor. This makes the ejection a little weak despite a new ejector and spring.

WTB - Short action 725

Just a good action or barreled action will do. I got an extra stock and trim to fill. If I don't find an action, I'll sell the stock.
