721 bolt bodies were made in two pieces with a fine line joint about 3/8" back of the lugs. I hope this is what you see. Have a good gunsmith check it out to be sure. The date info you have is right on.

The serial number is on the left side front receiver ring or the very early made ones (like the first 30,000 or so made in 1948) had the number inside the left bolt locking lug channel above the follower. Thanks - I have a rebarreled 721 in 280 with a weak holding extractor. This makes the ejection a little weak despite a new ejector and spring.

Just a good action or barreled action will do. I got an extra stock and trim to fill. If I don't find an action, I'll sell the stock.
