Re: Remington Game Loads Trails - Advert. & Map

I have them for New Jersey and Washington/Oregon, but I didn't record what I paid. Back in November 2020 one for North & South Dakota went on ebay for $154.50. All of them I've seen are 1924.

Model 29 Basrrel Date Code

What is with this date code (red) on the barrel of this solid rib Model 29? Looks like EACYRX to me.

Re: Model 11 Sportsman Help

The receiver with serial number 458265 was put in work during March 1942. There should be a two-letter date code on the left side of the barrel showing when the barrel was made. 210610 01a close-up with yellow arrows, 28-inch, FULL, XE X = December E = 1936.jpg For the correct terminology, The Sport...

Re: Your Remington "Shooter"?

My father's favorite pheasant gun was the 1896 vintage AE-Grade 12-gauge he got at Osbourne & Uland Sporting Goods in Seattle during WW-II. Paid $27.50 for it in almost new condition. By the time he quit hunting after the 1887/8 season it was pretty well worn. R.K., Rusty, Pheasants, October 197...

Re: 1894 Hollow Rib--Concave Rib?

Well, 139072 didn't generate a lot of interest at the auction, going for only $2100. https://bid.guyetteanddeeter.com/lots/view/5-TBSMZ/rare-fine-condition-remington-arms-co-model-1894-ce-grade-live-bird-gun Did the auction house send you pictures of the barrel flats and water table. I'd like to see...

Re: 1894 Hollow Rib--Concave Rib?

Some more Trap/Pigeon Gun Minutia! In the introduction of the FE-Grade Trap Gun in the 1905-06 Remington Arms Co. catalog, the text states "concave rib'" 1905-06 Catalog pg 19, Trap Gun.jpeg On the page for the higher-grade Trap Guns the rib style isn't mentioned but the picture shows a fl...

Re: 1894 Hollow Rib--Concave Rib?

Charles Semmer did two articles on the Pigeon Guns in The Double Gun Journal , Volume One, Issue 4 and Volume Five, Issue 2. In the first article he shows a CEO and a BEO. Even though the only catalog listing of the Pigeon Gons is in the 1902 catalogs, all the no-safety Remington Hammerless Doubles ...

Re: Question on late Mod. 11

The Model 11 receiver with serial number 408992 was put in work during August 1938. That was a bit before Remington began marking the chamber length on their barrels. This gun from just over a year later is marked with the length -- 418780 03.jpg Here is a catalog picture of Model 11 barrels -- 1923...

Re: 1894 Hollow Rib--Concave Rib?

I take it you are referring to 139072 in the upcoming Guyette & Deeter Auction. I see the new style action and coming in in the high 131xxx serial number range with the highest serial number old style action I've recorded as 132225. That CEO 139072 is the only gun I've recorded with the new styl...

Re: 1894 Hollow Rib--Concave Rib?

That is what I understand it to be. It appears to me that from the get-go the "Flat-Matted Rib" was standard with "Hollow Rib" to order on B Quality guns and higher. At the time of the introduction of the new style action 1905-6 those terms go away and "Concave Rib" is ...

Re: Model 1894 FE Trap Year of Manufacture

Looks like you have a nice FE-Grade. To date no production records for Remington Hammerless Doubles have been found. The late Charles Semmer constructed the Remington Hammerless Double serial number chronologies for his book Remington Double Shotguns from surviving shipping records. The FE-Grade &qu...

Re: Your Remington "Shooter"?

I have to admit most of my Remington doubles are gunroom queens, but I have shot quite a few Mourning Doves & Eurasians with my 1909 vintage 16-gauge KE-Grade -- 16-gauge, KE-Grade and Doves Sep 1999.jpg and shoot skeet with several of my Model 31s and Sportsman. My father had Winchester rifles,...

Re: Remington Model 32 Shotguns

it seemed to me that I found more TC's for sale than Skeet or Field guns--
That has been my observation too. I've yet to find that really nice Model 32 Skeet Gun that I would want to buy, but at my age I probably wouldn't if I did find it.

Re: Late late late Model 11?

That barrel date code looks like KTT to me. K = May TT = 1948. The highest 12-gauge Model 11 serial number I've recorded is 804638 with a barrel date code of PTT, June 1948. The Model 11 and the Sportsman were still the autoloading shotguns in the May 1, 1948, Remington Arms Co., Inc. catalog -- May...
