Re: IDìng A Remington Light Baby Carbine .44 RF
Hello Jens, You will need to post some more photos of the carbine. Like the overall view of the carbine, maybe one showing the patent dates that are on the top of the upper tang. The numbers on the side of the upper and lower tang are not serial numbers, but assembly numbers. Have a Good Day, Matt

Re: Help ID’ing an old rolling block
The Springfield 1870 Navy Rifle, 1870 Trials rifle and the 1871 Army rifle we're all chambered in 50-70. The case length for the 50-70 is 1.75", the overall length is 2.25". The 50-90 case length is 2.50" and the overall length is 3.20". A agree with Dick Hosmer that the 32.5&quo...

Re: Help ID’ing an old rolling block
Hello Neal, Your rifle looks like the barrel and forearm may have been cut down. In your first post, you note that the barrel length is 32-5/8 inches. The 1870 Trails Rifles were made with a 36 inch barrels. See photos below. 1870 Trials Rifle.jpg Also attached is a photo of a forearm from a 1870 Na...

Re: Help ID’ing an old rolling block
Hello Neal,
I took some photos and measurements of the breech block from the 1870 Trials Rifle and the 1870 Navy Rifle.
The breech blocks look to be the same shape and size. Have a Good Day,
Matt

Re: Help Identifying Rolling Block
This is a parts gun that was probably put together by Bannerman Company in the early 1900's. The frame, breech block, hammer and buttstock are from a Model 1871 New York State Rolling Block Rifle, the gun barrel and rear sight are from a 1898 Krag Rifle. Since the gun has a Krag rifle sight on it, I...

Re: Help ID’ing an old rolling block
I think that the best replacement for the breech block would be one from the Springfield 1870 Navy rifle. The Navy rifle and the Trials Rifle were made at the same time by Springfield, so i would think that they would of used the same breech block for both rifles. In the next few days when I get a c...

Re: Help ID’ing an old rolling block
Hello DeLisle45, What you have is a Springfield 1870 Trials Rifle. The only thing that I can see wrong with it is the breech block. The breech block would have a screw going through the breech block to hold the firing pin in place. Also the firing pin would have been spring loaded to keep the firing...

Re: Hybird Carbine?
Years ago Dixie Gun Works sold 1867 Navy carbine barrels, carbine forearms and the carbine barrel bands. The hybird carbine is made from the parts that were sold by Dixie Gun and put on the receiver and buttstock off of a 1870 Navy Rifle. That is why the hybrid Carbine has a sling swivel on the trig...

Re: Remington mold
Hello Marlinman93,
Very nice looking mold, good job on making the new sprue plate.
Have you had a chance to cast any bullets from the mold yet.
It will be interesting to see was what weight and diameter they are.
Have a Good Day,
Matt

Re: Can someone please help identify? What do I have.
Your gun looks like the Model 1-1/2 Sporting Rifle made from the 1880's to around 1900. If the upper tang is the same length as the bottom tang then the gun is the Model 1-1/2, if the bottom tang is longer then the upper tang then it's the Model 1, Sporting Rifle. The Model 1-1/2 were made in small ...
