Hi Nils, Where are you located? The major gun shows in Vegas (Jan), Balto (March) Tulsa (this weekend and Oct) and some regional gun show such as Reno, OH collectors' shows, and similar shows. usually have parts dealers that could have a cylinder. Post a want ad in the RSA Journal. Gun Parts Corp is...

Re: 1858 Verification help
Hello,
Just a note, that the only time that the serial number is on the cylinder, is because there was some hand fitting of the cylinder. The same applies to the serial number being on the inside of the grips.

Re: Identification at a glance
Hi Guys, On the large frame revolvers, the Beals and 1861 frames hide the barrel threads. The New Models ha the frame cut away to show the barrel threads. That applies to all New Models of all sizes. Beals loading lever shape is only on the Beals, the 61 loading lever has the top cut out to allow the...

Re: Remington Beals Pocket 3rd model
Hello Again,
According to Shiff's book, the 1st Model Beals were made:1857 - 1859
2nd Models were made 1859-1861
3rd Models were made in 1861, when Civil War production stopped the Beals production.
Yes the loading levers on all Remingtons were as long as possible to make loading easier.

Re: Remington Beals Pocket 3rd model
Hello Karu and Patbar, I have the Beals book by Schif, and if you have any questions I’ll try to find the answer. If you want to collect the Beals models, this book is a necessity. Let’s start with the first question, on locating the loading lever post closer to the cylinder on the third Model. If t...

Yes I do know how to identify each of them with just a single look. Too bad you're not in the US and attending the NRA Conference next month. I will Represent the Remington Society in the Collectors' section. My display is: The Handgun Designers of E. Remington & Sons." I will have an examp...

Re: 1871 Army pistol in 25-20 single shot?
Hi Rick, Welcome to the RSA forum. The first thing that you should be aware of is that all RB pistol receivers were made by 1888, when R Remington & Sons was sold due to bankruptcy. Any RB pistols made after that were assembled from parts by the Remington Arms Company. Also, many gunsmiths made ...

Fluted cylinders on NMA or NMN revolvers
A friend and I were discussing fluted cylinders on Remmie large frame revolvers, other than Belt models. Has anyone either seen a fluted revolver, or read about a confirmed fluted revolver? Don Ware's book does briefly discuss and picture a Beals Navy with a fluted cylinder, and I saw a fluted NMA a...

Re: 1885 REM-Lee cleaning rod
Hi Steve, While I can't answer your question, I can tell you that cleaning rods aren't covered in Gene Myskowski's book on the Rem-Lee rifles. but there are a few pic of rifles with the cleaning rod. I have a 100% complete and correct 1885 Navy rifle and the rods in Gene's book look like my rod. The...

Welcome ElKabong,
Boy, I haven't heard that name in 50 years!
Welcome to the RSA Forum. Post your question in the modern shotgun section for best results. There will be RSA shotgun people at the Maryland Antique Arms show in Balto this March, and maybe a Remmie shotgun display.
Daniel.

If the scope is a modern Tasco replica, I'll bet that the barrel and wood were added to an original frame.
Shoot it and enjoy it!

Re: Hello from Alberta Canada
Hello and welcome, I'm a pistol guy, but I do know that the "Remingtons" marking was only used by E. Remington & Sons, which went bankrupt in 1886 and was taken over and re-named, Remington Arms Co. in 1888. That dates your rifle to before 1888. I see no military markings, so the rifle...

Re: 1858 NMA
Hi Phicoloma, A few answers that you won’t like. 1) The letters, T and V are not Remington or US markings. 2) Most of the 1865 NMA production went into Ordinance stores and weren’t issued. From there they could have gone any place. Some were later civilian sales, some were converted to cartridge gun...

Re: Remington 1891/1901
Hi Sean, If you want to return it to a 1891 configuration, your choice of calibers is: 22rf short; 22rf long rifle; 25-10; 32 S&W cf; 32 rf; and 32-20. From this list, it looks like only the 21-10 is possible to comply with your laws. All but it, and the 38rf are readily available, and I’m not s...
