The Blue Book of Gun Values shows only one model 2. It's a "NO. 2 Sporting rifle" in .22 and .38 rimfire. That's obviously not it. More info is needed.

I also have one of these rifles. Remington did make "blued" stainless steel barreled 700's (The action is regular steel). I don't think it's conventional bluing though, as stainless won't take regular bluing. I have an idea that it is some kind of paint because I have seen a lot of them at...

None of my reference books say anything about 30-30 marked model 8. This is very interesting! How many were made like this? Can you tell me more or point me to a place I can check this out? I checked on the Remington web page and it said nothing. I'm not to impressed with their web site so I'm not s...

My Dad used to collect 14's and as far as I know, the only place you might find ammo for a 32 rem is at gunshows. Be prepaired to pay big time. Not as big time as 25 rem but expensive.

barrel replacement

If you barrel looks good I would definitely try it. That vintage 700 usually shoots below 1 MOA from the factory. Two of my three 700's shoot one hole groups at 100 yrds. and the other one shoots a 1 inch group at 100 consistently. A barrel change can get expensive. Good barrels can cost as much as ...

I've had very good luck at http://www.e-gunparts.com/ for any parts I need. I think they are the largest supplier of old gun parts there is.
