Re: Stamps on a 1875
Thanks Jay. The revolver does in fact have a small star on the barrel about 1/4 inch in front af frame. You have been a great help especially as it proves calibre amnd will satisfy our licencing authorities. I didn't know about a London Office. Do you have any suggestion as to where I can researchn ...

Re: Is this a genuine 1861 NMA ??
Two points here. If I owned a 'section 58/2' Antique weapon and had it entered on my firearm certificate here in the UK so that I could leagaly shoot it and then decided not to shoot it I could get it removed from my certificate and posess it as an antique. This is a fact as I have done this in the ...

Re: Is this a genuine 1861 NMA ??
Hi folks. The question is more important to Richard than you may think. Here in the UK it is difficult to own a modern (post 1939) replica of an old muzzle loader whereas ownership of an original is unrestricted. The good news is that I recently sold a rimfire conversion (.46 five shot) with exactly...

Stamps on a 1875
Hi Barn finds are very rare here in the UK these days but this came to light last week. Model 1875 in .44 Remington. Good item not at all messed about with and showing over 35% original finish. Pinched sights and with lanyard ring. Now for the question. Apart from the Remington address and the batch...

Re: REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK IDENTIFICATION
Thanks for your reply.
The rifles I refered to were sold as curios (not of shooter condition) years ago so I am not in a position to check. I will look out for another just to satisfy my curiosity.

Re: M1868 Egyptian Remington Rolling Block
I regularly reload 43 Egyptian in the field. Stamp out the primer, punch a wew one in, fill with coarse black powder and push a cast bullet in. No need to size or crimp and it's acqurate.
If you only have a few cases you do what you can

Re: REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK IDENTIFICATION
Your rifle was made by Remington for Denmark. It was originally chambered for the 11.7x42R rim fire cartridge. Sometime before 1897 it was surplused out to civilian shooters. Civilian shooters converted these to at least two different center fire cartridges: 11.7x42R and 11.7x45.5R. They used eithe...

Re: Help with Remy Roller ID
I can't help identify your rifle but I can tell you the the rifling on a 43 Egyptian is VERY shallow as it was inteded for patched bullets.
I have one in mint condition and the rifling is crisp and mirror shinny and very shallow.
Good luck.
