Re: Model 12 info request

What is the serial number used for if not to establish manufacturing date? Keep in mind that the date stamp will only pin down the date to a month and year. That could mean that several thousand like rifles would bear the same date stamp. The serial number would identify each of those rifles for own...

Re: Dating 1858 Remington

Your Remington New Model Army revolver, serial number 51468, is part of the shipment of arms accepted by the Ordnance Derpt. during January 1864. They accepted 3001 Remington New Model Army revolvers, with serial numbers in the range of 51285 thru 54585. The first 1000 were the final shipment for th...

Re: where can i find

Go to the opening page of this website, click on "Parts/Service" and scan the listing. You will find at least three sources for parts for the Model 41, and one of them lists a schematic available on line.

Good Luck,

When someone reads your posting, and has knowledge about the subject, they will type in their response and you can read it at that time.

Re: Please Help Dating a Remington New Army .44

Roy, If the cartouche is not present, and the fit of the grips are accurate and tight, the best we can do is assume that this revolver was not part of a government shipment, for whatever reason. That being said, the manufacture date should still fall close to the date listed for Government purchased...

Re: Please Help Dating a Remington New Army .44

According to information published in Don Ware's book on Remington large frame revolvers, your revolver, if it bears the cartouche of a Government final inspector, would have been delivered during July of 1864, as part of the contract of November 21, 1863. If you could post a photo of the revolver a...

As a matter of policy, this site does not offer value opinions on firearms. Two avenues you might pursue;
1. Bluebook of gun values
2. Review auction sites for history of sales

Re: Duleing Pistols

Without photographs, the best I can do is make an educated guess based on the serial numbers and the grip stamp (cartouche') "GYEL almost in bubble". With a cartouche (final acceptance mark) being present, we can assume that it was a civil war firearm, and serial numbers in the 95000 thru ...

Re: Duleing Pistols

Post photo's of the guns, as well as description of the markings including serial numbers. If they are Remington, I'm sure you will get your information.
