Re: .43 Spanish Brass made from Starline 50-110

44-77 brass is ~same, and sometimes more available. Run thru 43 Spanish die and gtg. Also easier to get w/ the thicker rim.

Re: Surge in Prices?

Not a Rem, but a '73 JM Marlin Texan levergun. cpl yrs ago, maybe $350/$450 tops. NOW, on GB, over $800-$900 (and auctions not over). Nuts!

Re: Rem Rolling Block model and cartridge

Pictures? As far as case dimensions, remember, no SAAMI specs back then. I am looking at a 32-30 in "The Handloader's Manual of Cartridge Conversions, 4th Ed." by Donnelly & Donnelly. 'About 1884' Make from 357 Max/~.030 short but fine. Orig specs shown case length: 1.64" Head Dia...

Re: 92 year old Remington Model 14 brings home the Venison

Have exactly the same gun (even the peep sight if I am seeing it right!). I did replace the front post and need to get it zeroed at 50-75 yds for my deer woods. It is a big bucket list item for me to take a deer with it!

Re: Rem Rolling Blocks conversion from 32 Rim

So, for a #4 in 32 RF - is the #4 string enough for 32-20? Or is 32 Long the max recommended? I don't have one, but found a cpl inexpensive #4s in 32 RF, and was considering the conversion to 32-20. Thanx

Jack71 wrote: Sat Mar 16, 2019 9:41 am Oscar, if it was a 16 gauge it couldn't have been a Model 17. The Remington Model 17 was only made in 20 gauge. They all had 2 3/4" chambers.
Jack - Yeah, you are correct. Sure I mixed apples and oranges! I KNOW I saw a Mdl 17, and mostly look at 16 ga's, so prob how I mixed it up.

Re: New to forum but longtime Remington owner, newest one a Model 17

Funny I should log onto here tonight and see this. I only check in about 1-2 times a month. AND I saw a Rem Mdl 17 at the LGS today. 16 ga 4 digit iirc. It was real cheap, as the bbl has a lot of exterior pitting/blemishes. Can't remember if it was a fixed choke or had the poly style (I looked at a ...

If I ever buy one from anyone other than you (one I own now), I think a condition is that you inspect it first!

Re: Help Identifying Rolling Block

My first thought was a RB action with a Krag bbl. See that is also someone else's basic opinion. No idea if Bannerman did these, but... I have a good friend who actually worked for Bannerman in the Day! If you want to send me pics, I would be happy to send them to him and get his opinion. PM if inte...

Re: Get out the hack saw and steel wool!

Marlin - lmao! I meant my tang sight looked like YOUR sight (we have posted back and forth on other forums!)!!! And yes, I think mine is a Pedersoli sight. I have a replacement screw in it now that was in my stash. Been looking to get the correct one from Pedersoli. Kid is stationed in Italy, in Vic...

Re: Get out the hack saw and steel wool!

I traded for mine as it is. Started out as an 1867 Husqvarna far as I can tell. The PG tang on mine has been custom bent, also as far as I can tell. It has an open (original?) hole in it... And has obviously been rebarreled. Bbl is ~1 1/16" across, and semi-roughly turned. Lot of tooling marks....
