JN: Horse Marines Tulsa GS find 1867 Navy carbine
JN very good question!! Back then the Navy not only had a detachment of Marine's on board ship,, but had to train the crews for both "Boarding Parties" and "Landing Parties" to capture harbor's, shore batteries and depots. Navy prefered to use short carbines, cutlasses and pistol...

Re: Is 50-140 Hepburn one of a kind?
I saw several of these at the Tulsa Show last weekend. Seems to be just a smidgen out of my retired Sgt's disposable income (wife's allowance). I am hoping to make a nice RB shooter out of some parts picked up over the last few years.

Tulsa GS find 1867 Navy carbine
After taking the wood off I come up with the info that I hope with your help can answer some questions. The barrel has the SN 4811 clearly and deep stamped, the rear sight has been replaced with a similar base with 2 extra flip up as in express sights, the front sight is correct. The action has been...

Re: Tulsa GS find 1867 Navy carbine ???s
Absolutely true, I will take the wood off to check the markings on the tang. Also the center mounted pin ejector has been replaced with a very small thin rotary ejector on the side of the roller. Nothing that I can do about the refurbish done, but at least will account for one of the few remaining 6...

Tulsa GS find 1867 Navy carbine PHOTOS ADDED
I just happened to find a refinished, what appears to be an 1867 Navy Carbine. I ID the bottom notch for the center fire extractor, the concave Roller breech. The Navy "Anchor Proof" on the top of the barrel shank and the 4 digit SN 4411 on the left side of the barrel. There is a tag attach...

Dick: No problem, I accepted the difficult task of removing the rust with as little abrasion to the original in the white as possible. Stanforth: I think that you might be right. I just happen to have a bottle of Plum Brown on the shelf. I might try a little on the barrel under the wood just to see ...

This is the after of the RB Pics from a recent Post. I did not use buffing wheels just complete disassembly and soaking in long trough with rags soaked in a mix of Ballistol and water. After the several days soak, then lots of elbow grease and rubbing compound on BRONZE wool. Last is a rub down with...

Re: Help!! NYSRB Reassembly
Thanks so much for all the help. I had just about to put this one in another box as a "DO LATER" project. Of which I have several now standing along the workshop wall, small boxes with the barreled actions pointing up like forlorn tomato stakes. I am printing these to put into my Disassemb...

Help!! NYSRB Reassembly THANKS NOW IT'S TOGETHER
I have done many reg rolling blocks with no problems, but I can't seem to get the NYS version to go back correctly. I think I am doing something wrong with the small maybe 7/8 in long spring that I am installing near the Mainspring. So someone help me out Please!! Is there a special way it goes in?

WOW! I too sure would like some enlightenment on this one. Plus, the S S Trigger is awesome, is 46 a rimfire or one of the obscure cartridges?

NYS Rolling Blocks ?s More added to this thread
Thanks for all the info on these RB's as I was confused about the references in the RRBMR to the NYS rifles being made with a "Tinned" finish. Thanks guys for letting me get educated on the actual 'In the White" finish used on most of these. On this NYS RB the areas under the the rear...
