Re: Model 510 date code help.

The date code can be followed by inspector/testing/etc numbers or stamps. If there is an additional date code is followed by a 3 the gun has been returned to the factory for repair.

Re: Model 510 date code help.

The 478 is in the serial # location Rem stamped on the M/510 through 1941. Your date code might be LH. The L would mean February. The H would stand for 1939. It looks like you have a very early M/510. It was introduced in March 1939. Rem usually started production a few months before the introductio...

Re: Remington Targetmaster 510

I certainly would not change barrels if the bore is good. The character of your Rem would change. The well-used stock wouldn't look right with a nicer barrel.

Re: Remington 721 trigger

Perhaps my terminology is wrong. When I retrieve a document that makes me go through the web I thought it was a download. I'll ask the resident computer expert (my wife). She's not an expert maybe, but certainly knows more than I do.....

I do agree that if I'm the only one, it is a coincidence.

Re: Remington 721 trigger

I downloaded the info. Then I looked at my desktop and five of my "Saved" folders had new junk names. I was able to rename them, then delete them so all is well I guess. A coincidence maybe?????

Re: New (to me) Model 12.

Thanks to Plain Old Dave for not beating me up for my caustic remarks. Good luck finding the perfect ammo for your rifle. A lot of folks use the hi-vel ammo in M/12s then learn that repeated use has damaged their rifles. Then it's too late.

Re: New (to me) Model 12.

The M/12 was made before hi vel ammo was introduced. It's fine to shoot Stingers or any hi-vel ammo. It will function just great. It's also OK to drink, then drive while blindfolded. To be serious... If you shoot much hi vel ammo you will ruin the rifle. It's that simple. The M/121 had a "beefe...

Re: New (to me) Model 12.

1911 production was from #48,937 to #104,041 so it was made in the third year of production.

Re: belgium browning remington model 24 autoloader

Thanks for mentioning the book. It is sold out, but some dealers still have a few. The info in the book is all I know. Another book "BROWNING .22 CALIBER RIFLES" by Homer Tyler has additional info and photos. Those models rare not easy to find. Value??? It would be hard to help you even if...

The DE3 means that it was returned for factory repair in September 1958. Letters followed by a "3" indicate a factory repair.

Re: Model 12 A

According to Rem records it was made in 1914. It is a M/12-A. Value???? Too many variables to know. How's the bore? Are all the parts original? Most of us don't try to give values on this forum. Check the internet gun sales sites for comparable rifles.
