The "CS" was part of the model #. It is a Model 12-CS.

Re: First Remington--12CS -- Trying to understand manufactur

21,067 would mean 1910. CS would stand for assembly in April 1925. Either there is another number in the serial # or the barrel has been replaced if the CS is the barrel date code.

Re: New to the Fourm with a Question

Speaking of quality.... Does the military use Rem M/700 Sniper rifles or Win M/70s????????? What country are the M/70s made in this month?????

This thread has gone long enough so I'll stop.

Re: New to the Fourm with a Question

The models 12 & 121 sound pretty nice as well. Some may think the M/121 is junk, but nobody has made a better 22 pump. Yup, I said nobody.
I have to know, and I'm sure others are wondering. Why do you even get on this Remington Society website? If Remington's are so crappy and all?
I have to wonder as well.

Re: Remington 12 question

Rem picked the parts out of bins that were not sorted. I don't know for sure, but I think the barrel code is the best indication of mfg date. Your situation is not unusual.

I agree. It looks like a factory configuration & I doubt very strongly that they would have used maple.

Re: An unusual Improved Model 6

Your rifle was made in Jan 1931 (date code BZ) so use in 1920 is at least doubtful. The Imp M/6 was made from 1929-1933. The extra letters are proof/inspector marks. The stock and forearm configuration look to be factory, but no options other than the standard American Walnut were listed by Rem. It ...
Hello, I am new to the Fourm and have a question for the Collector's out there. Picked up a Woodmaster 742 in 30.06 the other day at a pawn shop. She was someone's closet queen. Anyway, I paid $340.00 including tax with the gun at a SOLID 98%. Here's my question---I dated o...

Re: Dating 513T

Our research showed that serial #s started with 1000 and were stamped on the bottom of the barrel ahead of the forend. Since yours is obviously very early production the 57 could be a serial #. Rem did not always do what they said in their written materials.

Re: Early model 700ADL in 22-250 compare with John Lacy info

I've seen the old assembly process in Ilion first hand a few years back. As you said, parts for the rifles were put in wooden bins and retrieved as needed. The shotguns were made downstairs using robots and much less people involved. It was like going from gun-making 100 years ago to modern manufact...

Re: Grandfarthers Model 12

Values aren't usually given here. There's just too many variables. Are the sights original? Any cracks in the wood? How's the bore? I'm only listing the questions; not looking for answers. In any case the value won't make a significant bump in your net worth. The M/12s are great rifles. Certainly on...

Re: Grandfarthers Model 12

The MODEL 12 stamp was phased in. Some rifles as late as 1917 did not have the stamp.

Re: Grandfarthers Model 12

It is an early one made in 1911. Production started in 1911 with #55,105 and ended with 104,041.
