Main Spring for number 7

As stated in the subject line I am trying to locate a source for the main spring for a number 7. I have checked with Ken Womack but he has not been able to source them yet.
Any help is appreciated,

Re: Remington Hepburn

Thanks for the info. I already have brass. I found some at a gun show and some at a local gun shop. I have not had time to do anything with the Hepburn as I am working away from home at the present time. Graf also has brass for my model 33 Husqvarna in 8x58 R Sauer. It is even more expensive! Everyt...

Re: Remington Hepburn

EQ Guy,
Thanks for the info. I have looked thru buffalo arms site numbers of times and missed the expander section. That solves that problem. Thanks again. I will contact Mike Lewis to see where he is located.

Re: Remington Hepburn

I have located two gunsmiths on information provided from another board. (24 Hour Campfire BPCR) I intend to load only black powder and cast bullets. I have not been able to located something similar to a Lyman "M" die. Any suggestions?

Remington Hepburn

Gentleman, I recently purchased a Remington Hepburn in 25-20 SS. I am looking for a gunsmith to evaluate the gun and make some small repairs. I live in Colorado and would prefer a smith in the area. Any recommendations? Thanks, Lynn Rider P.S. I am also in the market for brass and dies if anyone has...

Re: Another ID Please

M36,
I see that your No.1 appears to have a fully functional beech front sight on it. I would love to find that same sight for my No.1 as mine is missing the ring and post. These old guns just have a feel and balance that is not achieved in modern firearms. Good find.

Re: Lyman tang sight for No 7 RB

DixieJack, I have had the number 7 at the gunsmith for a couple of weeks now, with the instructions to drill out the base hole and build a screw to fit the countersink in the sight. I have spent six or seven years trying to locate the correct sight and see no need to botch the job. I checked with th...

Lyman tang sight for No 7 RB

I recently purchased a lyman number 1 tang sight for my No. 7 RB. The problem that I have is that the mounting screw hole in the sight base is too small to accept the screw from the blank that was in the receiver. My question is: what size of screw was standard for the number 7? I am guessing that t...

Re: Model No. 1 1/2 Rolling block

DixieJack, I would suggest that you try to find a copy of Roy Marcots' book "Remington Rolling Block Rifles, Carbines and Shotguns. If nothing else the photography is exceptional. From my point of view it is an excellent source of information on the six models of true rolling blocks. They includ...

Re: Model No. 1 1/2 Rolling block

DixieJack, I will not represent myself to be an expert on rolling blocks but I will make the following comments. 1. The receiver is not a No.1 as all number ones have the sliding extractor as indicated by the extractor retaining screw in the upper left of the receiver. The lower tang on Number 1 spo...

Re: no 1 sporting rifle

Tanpatsu, I contacted Ken and he gave me a couple of sources.

Easyroller, I have tried numerous times in the past to contact Gerry and have always reached a mail box. No messages have ever been returned. I will try again this week.
Thanks to both of you for your response.

no 1 sporting rifle

Gentleman, I recently purchased a No. 1 sporting rifle in 40-70 Sharps Bottle Neck. It has a shootable bore and the action is very tight. The down side is the beech front sight has been broken and the apeture disc for the rough and ready rear sight is missing. I have checked all the parts sites that...
