Re: Remington 1858 New Model
You have a beautiful Remington 1858 New Model Army revolver. As you know it was produced and issued during the Civil War. Re: Remington 1858 New Model
Thank You aardq, for your help in understanding how/why these early revolvers evolved. Until your info, the Rollin White patent didn't register with cylinder development and the lack of further revolver modifications at the time.

Re: Remington 1858 New Model
Sir,
I'm fascinated by the information forthcoming on this forum since my first post less than a month back. Being a student of History, this is a recent branch off into new territory as far as the firearms of the day.
Thanks to all that have posted, and if billt would advise, I'd be very ...

Re: Remington 1858 New Model
Hello Groucho,
I suggest you get a copy of Don Ware's book "Remington Army and Navy Revolvers 1861 to 1888". It is the Bible on Remington large bore revolvers manufactured during the Civil War and after. It covers the Beals, Elliot and New Model Army and Navy revolvers. It is still available on E ...

Remington 1858
Recent acquisition and curious if this knowledgeable format can define where it was sent after acceptance by the Army. Serial # 48108 indicates it was in the lot fabricated in December of 1863. My curiosity is where it was sent afterward.
