Re: Rimfire auto's that shoot Short & Long Rifle intermixed
And how the 552 shoots the mix. The blow-back design requires enough power/oomph from the cartridge to cycle the action. The oomph needs to overcome the weight of the parts and spring tension that are in the way of the empty case moving rearward. The bullet is already gone and the pressure gone bef...

Re: Custom Build 770 for Left Hander
I don't recognize the name. The M770 rifle didn't hit the market until about 2007, those barrels might be takeoffs from earlier made Remingtons. Since they are 770's that helps narrow down the time frame of the rifles being built.

Re: Model 51 slide jammed closed
I would go slow, some of those parts are meant to come out the top of the frame. Some of the info I have dates to the 1950's, which was a time when parts were readily available. A "broken breech block" is the only description given, no hints on diagnosis or removal. It would not have been ...

Re: Model 51 slide jammed closed
There might be debris or damaged parts that are not allowing the hammer to rotate from fire to cocked. I'm not positive but I don't think the firing pin can prevent the slide from the moving.
The barrel might be bulged.
Broken or damaged breech block.

Re: Model 25 issues
I have some info but not the rifle. Proceed carefully as parts will probably be difficult to come by. I'm not sure if the action is supposed to cycle with the safety on, maybe another owner will chime in on the topic. Cycling the action with the safety on is a more modern function with some models. ...

Your shotgun has been reblued. Heavy polishing has removed the stamped information.

Re: I Have a Model Six (Not 6) and I'd Like To Ask...
Yes, they are free-floating. The barrel is separate from the forearm, but I have seen forearms that when rotated can touch the barrel, therefore not being free-floated. If this is undesirable it might be possible to shim the forearm to rotate left or right, and wood can always be removed to create c...

Re: Best ammo for a model 51 chambered in 380
"Best" can be difficult to answer. The standard ammo is a 95gr RN-FMJ bullet at about 950fps, I would start with ammo in this category. Your M51 was built at a time when hollow point, self defense ammo was not a big item and the pistol design did not allow for consistent feeding. Give the ...

I think there is only one cartridge, 5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum. Different bullets may be available but the same cartridge.

Re: Remington 721A Magnum .300 H&H
There is no way of knowing the history of this rifle in regards to maintenance, work performed or alterations. A gunsmith should be able to make the determinations you need. I would also contact the factory to inquire if there are outstanding factory modifications that are needed, they will probably...

No idea who has parts but a local machine shop should be able to make one fairly easy. Take your picture and the parts so that they can see what the part looks like installed.

Re: Model 24 LR Headspace
Keep in mind that old guns in general have probably been worked on before and that incorrect parts may have installed or fitted incorrectly. Headspace is usually farther down the list of things that could be wrong, unless the barrel is not fully seated into the receiver. I would hold off spending mo...

Re: Model 24 LR Headspace
It has new style extractor and cartridge stop. I've had to replace some missing parts... Is it supposed to have the New Style extractor? I don't think the N/S are a direct substitution but rather one of numerous parts changes to the bolt assembly. Headspace can be check with gauges as mentioned abo...
