Should a 12ga barrel fit on this receiver without modification? Have not fired it yet but does except and extract a 12 ga shell.

Remington 1100
Just picked up a Remington 1100. The serial number ends with an x, this should be a 20 gauge receiver from everything I’ve read.... but the barrel is a 12 ga. Is it possible someone may have put a 12 ga barrel on this receiver?
