Remington 870 forend on a model 31
Currently hunting with a 20ga model 31 with the standard corn cob forend. My pinky finger gets occasionally caught between the wood and the front of the receiver when cycling the action, hurts like crazy. My question is would an 870 20ga forend, fit the 31. I don't have access to a 20ga 870 to compa...

Re: Remington model 31 barrel fit
Thanks, Skeets is tons closer with a known reputation. Please let us know how it goes and cost. My original barrel marked full turned out to be cutoff to 261/2 inches so cyl bore. At Briley right now for chokes.

Re: Remington model 31 barrel fit
Amen. Now on the bright side, after an extensive search, I found a shop that can fit the extra barrel. Ahlmans in Morristown MN, they said they are currently backed up on work for 2 to 3 months.

Re: Remington model 31 barrel fit
I agree 100% with your comments, now the hard part is finding a "good" gunsmith. There used to be several in San Antonio TX when I was growing up, but now at 73 they are all gone replaced with AR experts and parts replacers.

Re: Remington model 31 barrel fit
Will do of course. I was hoping some big collector of 31s would know someone or have the knowledge.

Remington model 31 barrel fit
I have a 20ga model 31 that I would like to fit a second barrel to. I have read all the posts I could find and am aware of the issues. My question is this process written down anywhere or contained in a book. All the gunsmiths who did this procedure seem to be out of business, or passed away. Thanks...

Re: Model 31 Help
Hopefully by now you have solved this problem. If not, reach in the ejection port and depress the ejector back against the receiver wall. Then push down on the shell lifter, while holding the ejector back.

Re: Model 31 20ga barrel question
Thanks, I thought that might be the case. Just didn't want to alter something I would later regret.

Model 31 20ga barrel question
Howdy, new to this forum, but have a life long love of Remington shotguns 870, 11-48, 1100. My question is how big a screw up is opening a model 31 barrel. My new to me 20ga is full choked, and my plan is to have it opened up to light modified for doves.
Thanks Tom
