Round knob, checkering or no checkering ok. Prefer 5 or 6 digit SN

So, that suggests that the gun was sent back to the factory for the second barrel?

I have a 1907 four digit trap grade Remington Autoloading Shotgun. It has two barrels, with barrel stamps both matching the receiver SN 9239. Seems correct. However, the roll markings on the two barrels is not the same, and one barrel (w/ patents listed) has a date code "SS" which looks like 1947 ...

I have a first year production 870 in 20 ga. X type standard weight. Unfortunately the original trigger was replaced. I'd like to find a better match. Does the 12 ga trigger fit the 20 ga X model?
