Re: 540X chronology of changes
Thanks for your insight. I have an Anschutz 1403 and Remington 540XR and agree with your assessment of the two. My 540XR has two action screws, one longer than the other. The long one is too long, is in the rear hole, and if run all the way in protrudes into the bolt pathway, interfering with the ...

Re: Rifle identification
What you have is a 1898 pattern Mauser type sporterized military rifle. Mauser designed it but it is anybody's guess as to who made it or sporterised it. 540X chronology of changes
Anyone have a chronological list of changes to the 540X/540XR design?
I have seen 2 different length action screws, the longer one won't work on either my 540X or 540XR. These are different than the 580/581/582 screw, they have a chamfered head.

Remington 12 troubleshooting
I have a Remington 12 sn377505 which is mated to a lower/buttstock sn637074.
The action slide/bolt cycles fine when disassembled, but binds badly when it is assembled.
I think it has something to do with the carrier , but am not sure.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: 40X 2 ounce trigger
Trigger I am seeking info on is 2 ounce trigger for the 40XB BR. The original 40X (shown in reply) and the 40XB are different and I have illustrations on those.
Thanks, anyway.
