Re: Model 25 woes
Sorry for the delay. I wound up parting the gun out online and at gun shows. I just could never get it to work and would feel real bad selling it to someone else in that condition. Sorry I am of no help. I work on Winchesters all the time and they are pretty easy to figure out, but these forays into ...

Re: Model 25 woes
Well I can answer 2 of my problems right now!! I just took the stock off (I had to make a new one) to see if I remembered to drill a small clearance hole for the bolt to retract into. NOPE!!! Boy do I feel stupid! So I carefully drilled/chiseled a hole and reassembled the gun. Now the pump handle ...

Model 25 woes
Boy Remington engineers sure complicated things! I can figure out Colts and Winchesters...but Remington is another story.....!!!
Have a Model 25 in 25-20. Has a few issues. First of all the action will not cycle if the internal hammer is down. That is, the forearm will retract the bolt about 1/2 ...

Re: Model 25 forearm dimensions.
Thank you Bill and Jim. Hopefully I can fire up the lathe soon and get busy. I figured it was the same as the Model 12 (except perhaps the thru hole for the mag tube), but as I only paid $60 for the gun I didnt feel right putting $50 plus shipping for the forearms I see on eBay! Since I have to make ...

Model 25 forearm dimensions.
Picked up a Remington Model 25 pump in 25-20. It seems sometime in the past Bubba got a hold of it and did his 'customizing' of the wood. I am currently making a new buttstock for it, and need to make the fore arm also. What I need are the dimensions of the fore arm since Bubba removed so much wood ...

Re: Year of Manufacture Rem model 25
Just picked one up, in 25-20 cal. Serial 643X on the receiver and above that AA. On the left side of the barrel is AY so I guess March of 1930?

Re: purple hue bolt handles
Old Ruger blackhawks also often show a purple hue on the loading gate. I was informed that it was due to 'high silica content' in the steel casting. Just the 2 cents I heard...take it for what its worth.

Re: Model 14 barrel address/barrel code
Ok thanks. This list:
https://www.remingtonsociety.org/serials-model-14/
lists 1932 mfg as 119610 to 121306. Mine is in the high 119xxx range...(I currently don't have it with me as I am out of town). The same list also shows the type 6 barrel address as 1935-1937. This list I am referencing is ...

Model 14 barrel address/barrel code
My Model 14 has the LY barrel code signifying February 1930 yet the barrel address is the type 6 address which, based on the list here on this forum, ran from 1935 to 1937. (The serial on the receiver places mfg in 1932.) The LY code is when it was assembled correct? It makes sense the barrel code ...

Re: Remington 14 woes
Well a BIG BIG hearty THANK YOU to nambujim for his trust and help getting this baby fixed! A new bolt and a cleaning seemed to do the trick. Have some factory ammo that I will try out next week and just cannot wait. Thanks again to Jim and this great forum.

Re: Remington 14 woes
My barrel code is March 1930, serial 119XXX. Would the wrong bolt cause the problem described? I mean this thing sounds like a bank vault closing up and it closes tight so I assumed the bolt was correct, but again I am quite familiar with Winchesters but know next to nothing about these Remingtons ...

Remington 14 woes
Hi all. What a great forum. I have lurked here awhile but have not joined until now. Tool and die maker but not a gunsmith, I have rebuilt a couple of dozen guns in the last 30 years or so for personal use. A few years ago I bought a Remington 14 in 35 cal, serial 119XXX, that was only missing the ...
