I have an early Mid Range rolling block with a rang sight hole spacing of 2 1/8. I know the "normal" spacing is 1 15/16 on later ones. Does anybody have any experience with this 2 1/8 hole spacing? Rifle is in 5xxx.

Re: .22 lr No 1?
This maybe a very rare #5 sporting rifle. Serial number alludes to same. I mean very rare. Definitely worth acquiring. U have a #1 in .22 long as at that time the long rifle was not in existence. Don rustyrelx@yahoo.com

Re: Remington Rolling Block No. 1 Sporter help
The barrel says its in .40 caliber, Maybe some closer look is in order. Set triggers were a nice feature to add to a rifle when ordered. Look under the forearm and see if it says ST on the barrel. ST=set trigger. value if + or - $1500 if center fire and much less if rim fire. imho Don

Re: Remington Rolling Block ID
Since your rifle has been modified I would be very curious about that chamber. The hammer has been modified to accept a longer cartridge. Before I bought any brass I would see exactly what the chamber is..

In all probability yes. But it would have been a Mid Range not a Long Range
Short Range 1-200
Mid Range 200-700
Long Range 800-1200

Re: Remington Rolling Block Questions
There is a specific reason that there are "longer" chambers. Some of these are chambered for the Spanish version and some are chambered for the German/American version. If there is an "s" behind the 7mm mark then its the Spanish version, no mark signifies the German/American vers...

I'm not sure blackhorn will "bump" up a bullet as its a smokeless powder albeit a black powder substitute. Black powder is better.

Re: 44-90 & 44-100
I have a long range based on the 44-90. The chamber has been extended and the casing is now 2 3/4. The is the longest I have ever heard of on a rolling block. It chambers just as quick as any other, no problems. I had heard that about the turn of the century this kind of work was being done for a gr...
