Re: Rolling block needs work
I've acquired a receiver and some other parts. Does anyone know of someone who works on Rolling blocks and does good work? Thanks! Jim Dubell, Delta Gun Shop, Colville, WA http://www.deltagunshop.com Here's one he restored for me: http://www.zzzeke.com/RRBRestore-LeftFullsm.jpg http://www.zzzeke.co...

Re: Remington Light Baby 44-40
If you're interested in making this rifle shootable it's probably possible. See a topic here called "Another RB Restoration". I lined the barrel (to .357 Mag), had a non-factory dovetail in the barrel filled, replaced the wood, restored the blue and case coloring, etc. You might not want t...

Re: Another RB Restoration
Jim redesigned his web pages and has added a custom barrel and reboring capability. I see he does .45-70 barrels now, among others.

Re: Another RB Restoration
I was actually hoping it would be a little less shiny. That's just a plain rubbed oil finish. I didn't think it would turn out that light, but I like it. I'm glad we didn't stain it to make it darker. Sometimes I think Jim does too good a job.

Another RB Restoration
I thought you might be interested in some pictures of the rifle that I posted about here a couple years ago. The restoration work was completed last January. I finally got a decent camera and took some good pictures. The rifle belonged to my grandfather who died in 1919. I'm not sure this rifle didn...

Please do let us know how it goes with Jim. I have been extremely pleased with his prices, quality, and attitude. I'd be very surprised if you had a different experience.

Re: rolling block project
I had Jim Dubell at Delta Gun Shop (link) reline and rechamber my 1875 #1 Remington rolling block .38 Long rimfire target/sporter rifle. The bore was unshootable, the metal finish was completely gone, and the stocks had been charred in a cabin fire in about 1915. In addition to the reline/rechamber ...

Re: 12.17 x 44 mm rimfire conversion to centerfire?
I recently had my .38 Long rimfire RRB restored and converted to .357 Mag by Delta Gunshop in Colville, WA. Look them up on the web at http://www.deltagunshop.com/. Jim Dubell filled the rimfire firing pin hole in my breech block and machined a new one for a centerfire pin. At the same time he insta...

Re: Need help to identify rolling block rifle.
I am having my RRB #1 restored by Jim Dubell at Delta Gun Shop in Colville, WA. He's just finishing up with the job. The last steps are blueing the barrel and blocks, and case coloring the receiver and buttplate. The cost has been quite reasonable and the work so far has been breathtaking. You can f...

Re: Replacement sights for Model 1 Sporting Rifle
Mine does have the original sights mostly. It's got the original rear buckhorn and the front dovetail mount is there. Somebody replaced the blade part of the front sight with a blade cut from a copper penny, it looks like. Jim Dubell is recommending I take a look at sights from Buffalo Arms if I dec...

David,
As I said in my email to you, you have a very nice #2 RRB sporting rifle there. Take good care of it.

Re: Identifying, dating and valuing Remington Rolling Block
Look for a two digit number on the underside of the barrel near the front end of the forestock. That will be the caliber. What is the thickness from side to side of the receiver? Are the upper and lower tangs the same length? Is the rear edge of the receiver on a slant, or is it perpendicular to the...
