Remington Model 30 Express questions
Just home from small Town local Gun Show, where right as I was done, having seen it all twice, somehow my Eye landed on this one, which had been hiding in plain sight. I have wanted one for a long time, but I would appreciate knowing more about it, if any of you can fill me in please. DOM? DOB? Anyt...

Re: Remington & Sons Sept 14, 1858 pistol - looking for info
Can you post some images of the old Remington? On mine, which I doubt anyone had touched in a Century or more...I cleaned the Steel parts with Bronze Wool and Oil, and also some small Bronze Brushes and Oil. I did not clean the Brass at all. I did my cleaning with the Revolver dismantled. I would de...

Re: Need help with Remington 1875
Many Retailers back when used to offer both Gunsmithing and Finishing services, even as many Gunsmiths also offered Finishing/reFinishing or modification services, and, my guess is this is an old 'period' finish and likely was requested when the Revolver was purchased, and ditto with the Stocks. Goo...

Best Caps for original m1861 .44 Remington?
Tried out my m1861 Remington .44 Cap & Ball Revolver today at the local Gun Range. Wonderful! Accurate, smooth, really nice in every way. The only disappointment was in my choice of Remington No. 11 Caps, which seemed to fit nicely but they would fall off in recoil! So, that part was no fun. I a...

Hand replace and fitting ( NM 1861 .44 )
My 1861 New Model ( described a few posts below ) was missing the Hand when I got it. I found an original 'NOS' ( never fitted, un used ) Hand, but it is an earlier one which has a threaded hole. Rather than ream that out, I thought I would try a Uberti Hand, so, I sent off for one. The Uberti Hand ...

Re: Seeking some help with my Remington New Model .44
Very nice, restore it carefully. Your trigger and cylinderstop spring is broken too. Another god source of spares, see: http://ssfirearms.com/products.asp?cat=260&pg=3 Thank you! I intend to merely go over the Steel components with some Bronze Wool and Oil, just lightly, to ease some of the 'fr...

Re: Seeking some help with my Remington New Model .44
As mentioned above, my Hand is missing entirely, looking like someone had carefully removed it, who knows how long ago. Digging around some more, I gather that the early New Model .44s had a Hand which had a threaded hole, for the Screw which pivots it to the base of the Hammer, and, the successive ...

Seeking some help with my Remington New Model .44
First post, but I have spent some while today, looking through old Postings trying to get up to speed somewhat! I am thrilled! Having just gotten my first Remington Cap & Ball, which is the "New Model" and in .44 Calibre, and I am hoping some of you here may be able to tell me some thi...
