Here are eight shots of the rifle's various features. I removed the front sight and discovered a "C" stamped in the dovetail slot. C is 1956 or April but that is reaching. I have a 1960 552 Speedmaster without a serial number but with a Barrel code.
I was hoping some of the Rim fire guys could give me a ball park year from the photos. It is interesting that this came from Bridgeport which was Remington country for most of the 20th century who knows maybe an employee or company gun. may never know.
The mystery continues. I removed the Barrel from the receiver. This was very easy to do and still did not find any markings date or proof any where on the receiver end. As you can see by the photos it has the regular Remington 572 22 cal markings. Is there any place else they could be on a early 572?
Thanks for the reply. The issue is there is no visible barrel code or inspector marks on the opposite side. There is a shroud which protrudes approx. 1 inch up the barrel from the receiver. my best guess is that it's covering any markings.
This rifle has no visible letters on it's barrel and it does not have a serial number on the right hand receiver plate. It must be older than 1968, Any help or suggestions in dating the rifle would be appreciated. Were the codes under the front slide or covered by the receiver?

I believe the Model 10 shotgun was the Model 1908, and the Model 12 .22 was the Model 1909. The doubles were the 1882,1887,1889,1894 and 1900 etc. Did the Model 8,1...
I have come upon a US Military stamped 12 Gauge Sportsman. Military finish with attached Cutts Compensator with MM-1943 Barrel stamp . Very good shape seems all original. I know both the Army AF and Navy used them to Train aerial gunners. I am very excited to own a piece of unique Remington WW2 hist...
