What side got the Remington 1858 ?
My wife and I were on a tour of the south, and we visited several Civil War battlefields.
I also, own the Remington 1858 pistol, that were issued to the officers.( I believe)
Did both sides, Union and Confederates, have this gun? Or was it only issued to the Union?
I've been looking for a book on ...

Why 2 different stamps on cylinder?
I own a 1858 Remington in 44 caliber. On one side of the cylinder - - there is a letter "J" and
on the other side, there is the letter "W"
Does this mean, that my gun/cylinder was inspected by two different inspectors?
Any info would be appreciated.

Re: wood case for 1858 model
I found a guy in Indiana, that makes the same cases, as you see on Ebay, and some of the gun site, that sell
for $125+. He makes them himself, and sells them for $40. This is the deal of the century. Only issue is - -
he doesn't make them until he is paid by Paypal, or debt. It takes 10 - 14 ...

Found a used 1858, or 1861 (not sure) .44 Remington in Arizona. Serial # 88781. Gun seems to be in
good condition, with 60% original bluing. Has GP stamped on the left grip, and several markings
of P, W, on the barrel, and J on the frame. Would anyone have any info - - based on the serial number ...

Does anyone know where to purchase a presentation case for my 1858 Remington?
Saw a few websites, but they were selling for over $200. Are there many places that

New Member - just purchased a Remington 1858 revolver
Hello Group -
My name is Mike Lanska, and I live north of LA. I've been looking for a Remington 1858 New Army revolver for sometime now.
I finally found one in Arizona, and drove back to pick it up. The serial is #88xxx, and still has about 60% of its original finish, and
inspection stamps all over ...
