Wingmaster Barrel Number

Hi, I'm looking at an 870 Wingmaster with the date code of DI, 1976. To the right of the date code is 79, is this supposed to be the date of the barrel, or just an assembly number? DI and 79 don't jive. :)

Thanks for any help

Unusual Barrel Code

The gun is a 870 lw 20ga with a S prefix on the serial number. 2-3/4 only. It has the mahogany wood if that helps.

Is the F supposed to be a P? I'm guessing it's 1972.

WTB- Wingmaster 870 LW 20ga

I would prefer a non-magnum.

Remington 141 Magazine Question

Hi, Does the magazine tube on the 141 screw into the action bar like the Model 14?
I've got one that doesn't want to budge.

Thanks avery

Got it, it too is threaded. :D

If you can retrace your tracks, borrow or rent a metal detector.
Over the years, I have found about everything that can be lost for people.
Even found a guys wedding ring in a gut pile.

Check the left rear of your barrel for the date code.

Re: New Owner of a Model 14

These are fantastic rifles, I have a 14, and 141 in 30 Rem.
If you are going to hunt with it, a box of shells will last you awhile. But, if you are planning to use it at the range, loading is a must. They are pricey, if you can find them.
Congrats on a fine gun and heirloom. :D

Re: First hunting rifle: .243 or .308?

Not a tough choice for me, I have been a fan of the 243 for years.
Some think it is too small, not true at all. It's a very hard hitting round.
If you might hunt larger game in the future, go with the 308.

WRR would be August 1946. Looks like it was rebarreled at a later date.

Remington Model 14--Help Needed

I have a slight problem, someone in the past has over tightened the take down screw, buggering up the threads. I have a new screw, but the threads in the receiver, while they look fine, are apparantly pulled a bit. It needs a tap to clean them up. The size is a strange one, 225x40. A very rare, prob...
