Re: Model 31 12 ga pump with US Ordnance Markings
The Model 31 12-gauge receiver with serial number 39635 was put in production during November 1940. I have a couple of Model 31s with the RLB and the bomb, a cobbled together gun with a receiver in the 37xxx range with different serial numbers on the barrel and trigger group and this all matching nu...

Re: Model 31 20ga barrel question
Full choke seems to be far and away the most common choke found on Model 31s, so opening one up certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings. I find modified, improved cylinder and SKEET more useful to me. Don't have such an issue with my 20-gauge Model 31 as someone long ago put a Cutts Compensator on it!!

Re: manufacture date of model 11
About all that can be accurately stated is that 16-gauge Sportsman 1556255 is a post-WW-II gun. The old factory ledger for the 16-gauge Model 11/Sportsman serial numbers ends June 30, 1942 at 1551120. What is the date code on the barrel?

Re: Remington Umc Ammo question
The company name actually changed more. It was prefaced with "The" and the hyphen was gone.In 1916, they added the word "incorporated," in small print, under the Rem-UMC line.

Re: manufacture date of model 11
The receiver with the serial number 425311 was put in work during January 1940. The receivers had a roll-stamped game scene on each side. 418780 01 12-gauge 30-inch Full, put in work by 1 Oct 1939.jpg Without pictures there is not much else we can tell you. These old "square back" Remingtons don't d...

The stock dimensions for the Model 32A "Standard" Grade were a pistol grip with 14" length-of-pull, 1 5/8" drop-at-comb, 2 1/2" drop-at-heel. "Any other dimensions subject to extra charge of $18.95" "Special stocks require from five to eight weeks to make and orders for such are POSITIVELY NOT SUBJE...

Re: Ridiculous Wood
I don't think I'm having a senior moment, but I seem to recall there was a period of time that the .410-bore and 28-gauge Model 870s and Model 1100s came with Mahogany stocks and forearms.

Re: Matching barrels on Pre-11 Auto Trap Grade?
3 is factory repair. So, should have been fitted at the factory. As I understand it if it was a 2 that would be an extra barrel fitted by an authorized gunsmith.

Re: Matching barrels on Pre-11 Auto Trap Grade?
The receiver and the original barrel are marked Remington Arms Co. That was the company name until 1911, when Marcellus Hartley Dodge combined his arms and ammunition companies as Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. During 1916 they incorporated to raise capital for war production becoming...

Re: Unique Looking Model 32 Help
It appears to me that the gun as originally built was choked M (modified) for the bottom barrel and F (full) for the top barrel. One of those returns for repair was probably to have the chokes opened and over-stamped to IMP CYL (improved cylinder) bottom barrel and MOD (modified) top barrel. As orig...

If it was a factory two-barrel set I would expect to see a 1 and a 2 under the serial numbers on the barrel flats --

Serial number 38 would be one of the earliest Remington Autoloading Shotguns to come to light. They first appear in the 1905-06 Remington Arms Co. catalog.
We would love to see some pictures of serial number 38.

Re: Engraved Model 14, ca. 1918
Looks like the Model 14F "Premier" Grade as pictured in the 1915-16 Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. catalog. Normally the serial number is stamped in the head of the stock and on a high grade gun like this possibly the mark of the stock maker who made the stock.
