I only call it 1858 as most people know them as that but they were known as old army or new army .
I thought about the Beals version myself but as you say it’s just minor differences like loading lever and cylinder pin .
Sure it as the same slot indexing system too ...

Just a quick question..... every 1858 I have seen even the reproductions have slots for the hands to index to... the one I have as the usual ratchet system... is this unusual ?
The cylinder is more or less the same size as my pietta 1858 and is interchangeable too and indexes perfect.

Just had another look and the serial number on both barrel and grip is correct at 136497.
I know nothing at all about antique 1858s just enjoy shooting bp revolvers . My other Remington is an old 1871 rolling block pistol which I posted on here many years ago and still own . I do enjoy the research ...

Picked up a rough looking 1858 which will be just a curiosity piece but would like some info please,
It has CSA stamped on the body next to the barrel
Serial number on barrel and inside of grip is 136497
Number on brass trigger guard is different various stamps are 215.... 1.....V.....3

Just acquired the above pistol and need some assistance please
Trying to source a main spring and trigger sear spring as those installed are broken but it still cocks and fires but I like to replace.
Any one know where or who as them?
Also they is some script on the barrel which ...
