Yes, that is just my point - even the reproductions seem to be cut this way, so I am not sure why the other cut appears as it does. My concern is that the frame has been recut, but I think that that may be a stretch, and to what purpose (?). On the other hand, why would the frame of this one gun loo...

I have the opportunity to purchase a NJ marked Remington and in looking it over I noticed that the frame is cut in a way that I have not see on other pistols. The 2 photos below are both of NJ marked guns, so both were produced in 1864 and were part of a batch of 1,000, and presumably identical. How...

Wanted: a .44 percussion New Model Army in great shape. NJ marked would be a plus but it is not necessary. I am prepared to pay what it takes for a nice example.
