Re: Stock identification on 721 ..... fantastic wood !

I talked to Winslow this morning. He said they have never done any Remingtons. I saw some Weatherbys online. I'm thinking it could be one of those. I'm going to call them tomorrow.

Re: Stock identification on 721 ..... fantastic wood !

You are right about the recoil pad, but it was replaced recently when the rifle was reblued. I don't remember what was on the original one, but it was very similar. I don't doubt your, or John's opinion, I am only trying to get answers. It would seem they are in some doubt. Is there anyone or anywhe...

Re: Stock identification on 721 ..... fantastic wood !

Wulfman and John, I am posting some close ups as best as I can take them with the camera I have. I hope they are good enough. John, I looked thoroughly at the stock and can't find any grade stamp on it, although the email I got from the factory said they aren't always marked. Why would you not tell ...

Re: Stock identification on 721 ..... fantastic wood !

When I sent pictures to Remington, this was their reply: "Letter designations are not always used and many grades are never marked on the firearm itself. The engraving is done very well. It does appear as though it could be a factory job, however there is no true way to confirm this with 100% c...

Re: Stock identification on 721 ..... fantastic wood !

This is my 722 .244. The factory told me that it most likely came from the factory as is, but that the wood grade wasn't always identified as peerless or premiere. It's birdseye maple.

Re: 721 722 725 dates of mfg

I got the rifle back from the smith today. He did a great job, I am very happy with it.
His opinion is that it is definitely factory work. The one clue he hit on is that there is
no slot cut for iron sights.

Re: 721 722 725 dates of mfg

The rifle is at the smiths now being reblued, so I'm not positive about whether or not there is a blank. It has a Weaver scope, so the mount is screwed down. Do you think Remington would have any information about the engraving and checkering and the lack of a model letter?
