Re: Remington M-1861 “Old Model” Transitional Revolver.
18 to 25 grains of FFF black powder should work fine. You may want to vary the loads to determine the most accurate. Enjoy!!

Re: Special Remington or not?
Interesting. I have a NMA #80320 converted to 45 LC. The recoil shield has been milled to accept a backing plate similar to yours. The frame was milled using a square cutter while yours appears to be an angle cut. Other than the slots for the backing plate no other milling has been done to the frame...

Re: Remington 1889 12 Gauge Nitro Loads in 2024
Ah the loading question! First question - what is the barrel condition? Is it safe with any load? The 1889 was designed for smokeless powders of the day. That said, I would use modern powders without question but try to keep pressures below 5500 - 6000 psi or so. I have several 1900s and 1894s (both...

Re: Need some help identifying a Remington SXS
You have a Model 1900 K grade S/S which left the factory in 1902. From the pictures it appears to be in excellent condition with much color case hardening still visible. The 1900 K grade was offered in four versions: K - Remington steel barrels with extractors - least costly KE - as above with eject...

Re: 12 Ga 11-48 Rifled Slug Barrel ?
With the advent of truly rifled barrels the older unrifled slug barrels are really obsolete. What you have is a cylinder choke bore barrel. Does the barrel have adjustable rear sights?

Re: Help! Reminton 1858 New Model Army .44 Caliber
It will take 30 seconds to check S/N under left grip. Checking the trigger guard is an option. A small slot screwdriver is all that's needed.
Anyone interested in purchase will most likely require viewing the S/Ns.
email me at jmeier356@gmail.com to discuss purchase.

Re: 1858 NMA Conversion
Whoever made the conversion did a nice job. The frame is milled nicely to fit the steel plate spacer. I haven't removed the spacer to see what's underneath.

Re: 1858 NMA Conversion
Daniel - thanks for your quick reply.
An update -- didn't notice stamp on hammer. Turns out to be 33. So 33 is stamped in at least three locations. Frame near S/N, barrel close to S/N and hammer.
Attached are additional pix.

1858 NMA Conversion
Just bought a converted '58 that appears to be chambered for 45 Colt. Chambers measure about 0.480" which matches the Colt. S/N is 86xxx and would appear to have been made in July or August of 1864. No military marks are present unless the W stamped next to the blast shield is one. S/N on barre...
