You also did not mention what the gauge and barrel length of that 870 was.

Re: Model 870 Vent Rib Attachment
I agree with you on that, but he is a young 20 something and has been scolded heavily by his family. I am just trying to clean up what I can for him since it was his grandfather's gun. Bruce If you can find a gunsmith who can/will do the restoration (shouldn't be too hard)....they will know what to...

Re: Model 870 Vent Rib Attachment
Can anyone tell me how the vent rib is attached on the 870 model? I have a friend who left the gun in a case and it is rusted to the point where it needs to be reblued. I know that hot bluing will separate the rib from the barrel if it is soft solder, but won't if it is attached with silver solder....

Re: Forum activity
The circumstances of how I happened to be on the forum was that I saw a reference to a book authored by John Gyde and Roy Marcot and did some searching.....and found this forum. Since I have a "fair number" of firearms including quite a few Remingtons, I decided to hang around and further ...

Re: Model 12B dating
I recently bought the 12B Gallery Special in rough condition needing repair. I can fix it and have ordered the parts. I have found no letters on the barrel to get a date of manufacture. My guess is it is before 1921, the serial number is 369367. Could anyone venture a guess on its date by the numbe...

Re: Model 1100 starting serial number
Can anyone confirm what the Model 1100 starting serial number was? My recollection is that it started with 1001V. Is this correct? Thank you! Read it for yourself. From: https://www.remingtonsociety.org/collecting-remington-model-1100-shotguns/ (near the end of the document) Under......"Dating...

Re: 700 bdl .270 lh manufacture date
I have a 700 bdl .270 lh. Serial num starts with E. left side of the barrel is stamped DQ 70. Just wanted to get confirmation when it was made Sept 1978, 1996 or 2019. Thanks Just taking a semi-educated guess.......I would say 1996. Serial number preceding letters started in about 1975 with "A...

Re: Left Hand Model 700 vs. Model 700LH
Hello, all, first post here. I have a left handed Model 700 in .30/06, OY barrel code (July '74, so early for a left handed 700). However, the receiver is marked "Remington" over "Model 700" . I think this may just be an error, in that the incorrect die was used to mark this rec...

Re: Remington 572 know alls
Ok i have purchased a few older (60s and 70s) rifles. Based on barrel stamps. But the question I have is. Two of them have a barrel screw on the upper left of the reserver and two of them do not have said screw! Can anyone tell me what the difference is? Older? Newer? Any help would be great! Sent ...

Re: Remington .243 Mohawk-600 1957
I will be including pictures of the rifle. It was given to me by my father along with other rifles. We went on many many hunting trips, always he would say "Wait let me show you one more time", he'd fill both tags with monster bucks. I will include one picture of a record buck also. He pa...
