Re: Remington Rolling Block #2 Rifle in 22RF

Hello All:

After review of some additional photos of the manufacturer's marks, John Gyde has estimated this rifle was made somewhere in the mid-1870's. I have provided those photos here for all to review - any additional thoughts will be much appreciated & thanks to John for his assistance!

Remington Rolling Block #2 Rifle in 22RF

Hello All. I just acquired a Remington Rolling Block #2 Rifle chambered for 22RF, serial number "6566" marked on the lower tang. Patent dates are marked on the left-hand side of the receiver; "E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y." in italics on top of the rear of the 26" barrel near the receiver & "22 ...

Re: Remington New Model Pocket

I am wondering if anyone is going to respond to my questions; her they are again, in case I was not clear on my initial post:
• Does the pistol pictured above appear to be nickel finish, silver wash or just blued finish faded to “white”?
• It appears to be original percussion, but it is all iron ...

Remington New Model Pocket

Here I am again considering another pre-1898 Remington pistol for purchase - this time, it is a New Model Pocket in .31 caliber. Was told it was original nickel finish, but I am not sure if it could be silver wash or just "in the white". It has a crisp, sharp action with no play. Serial is 4230 ...

Re: Remington New Model Police Percussion vs. Conversion ID

Jay:

Thanks again for the information!
I have run into another anomaly: the pistol I have has a five(5) shot cylinder & 4.5" barrel like you would expect to find on the Remington New Model Police revolver; however, the markings on the barrel are those found on the Remington New Model S/A Belt ...

Re: Remington New Model Police Percussion vs. Conversion ID

Thanks Jay!

I checked under the tab on the trigger guard, the number there was 233 and under the left-hand grip, the number there was 13233. Would that mean the conversion number is 233 or just the last three (3) digits of the serial? Would the percussion cylinder be marked with the same number ...

Remington New Model Police Percussion vs. Conversion ID

Hello all...

I am considering purchasing an 1858 Remington New Model Police percussion revolver from a friend, but wanted to confirm a couple of things prior to tendering an offer; here is what I already know about the pistol: serial number 13233 on the underside of the barrel under the loading ...
