If you want to shoot it, use the repo parts. If it won't be shot, then I'd use the original parts.

Does the serial on the trigger guard tab also match? What finish does the gun have? You have a rare gun so enjoy it.

Those are probably plastic grips made in the 1950s or 60s. Mother of Pearl is too brittle to checker, an d real ivory doesn't have the color pattern that those grips have. You have a very rare and desirable gun. Very few were made in 45 Colt. The Cylinder looks like its a 45, but try a 45 or 44 case to make sure. There is a fourth model of the pocket pistol. It has a brass frame and a steel trigger guard. Remington would have introduce parts changes during production and would use the old parts first, thus creating several models.

In general, Remington pistols will have the screws, hammer, and trigger blued. The trigger guard usually had the same finish as the rest of the pistol. Check the tab on the trigger guard to see if the number matches the frame number. If so you're safe in believing that its the original finish. If no...

In his book on Remington Army and Navy pistols, Don Ware believes that when the design changes were made on the single wing pistols, the new versions were serialed from the number 1. I don't believe that he gave a reason other than there are duplicate numbers on the "regular" Beals Navies.
