Re: Question about a O/U Derringer monobloc of 1934 ?
Hello, The problem with the last years of the DDs is that they were made, and often sat on a shelf until needed. The letter code would be added at the time the gun was shipped. I have a DD close in number to yours, L75757, with the date code of BL, meaning January of 1942. To date, this is the last ...

Re: Help ID Remington Revolver - makers marks look wrong
Hi Again Rick,
Are there two parallel bands around the circumference of the cylinder near the front. Those would have probably had gold wire embedded in the grove. Is the gold wire still there?
Thanks,
Daniel

Re: Help ID Remington Revolver - makers marks look wrong
Hi Rick, Welcome to the world of Remingtons. That is an 1863, New Model Army. Without any inspector's marks it was made for civilian sale rather than government contract, but the markings may have been polished off when plated. The top barrel marking was in three lines. The top line was the patent i...

Re: Schematic. for Remington 1858 Revolver
Hi Zach, By plunger do you mean the loading lever? If so I don't know of any place that would have them as an in stock item. You might try Jim Shafer; PO Box 381; Irwin, PA 15642; 412 - 672 - 6830 11am - 7pm. He does have parts, but you never know what he will have. If you attend the Balto Gun Show ...

Hi Jim.
All the birdshead grips are the same size regardless of model, so any Smoot grip will fit. The sawhandles are another matter.

Re: Schematic. for Remington 1858 Revolver
It is very doubtful that Rem used numbered schematics instead of just using the part name. The numbering came along by parts suppliers to make ordering parts easier. As long as you have the correct part name, you should be fine.

Re: Double Derringer Monobloc
The photos show that the finish is polished, and not the matte finish. Without the gun in my hands, I'll say that the frame appears to be a refinish, and so do the barrels. In 1935, Rem was just shipping out old stock, and the KD is the shipping date, not the manufacturing date. Rem-UMC never made t...

Re: ID´ing a Remington 1858 Revolver Please help
Ware's book shows it was made in Nov 1863. If the gun has been refinished is has no collector value. Enjoy it as a shooter, but black powder only.

Re: AD OR CATALOG INFORMATION
Patbar, Where did you get the ads, Google or a catalog? If a catalog, were there and Belt Models, or Rider's Belt Models listed?
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Could anyone tell me ?
Many manufacturers don't produce every item or every model all the time. The produce a run of model x and then switch production to model y, and switch again and again. Modern gun makers due the same thing. Rem would start production of the DDs at #1 and run the numbers sequentially until the end of...

Re: Could anyone tell me ?
Agree with David. The grips looked thicker in the first pic, and they looked too "new" to be original. They just didn't look right, plus the screw. Seeing them from the back I now agree with David.

Re: Could anyone tell me ?
You have a third model, made 1888 to 1911. These were made in batches, so your gun was 416 in a particular batch. Because of that, there is no way to date the gun further. The grips are probably after market. It appears that your gun has a vertical, hairline crack on the left hinge at the 6 o'clock ...
