Are there larger capacity magazines available for the 788?
Love the look and feel of the carbine version in 308 that I saw recently but do not like the 3-round magazines. Are there larger capacity ones out there? Did a quick search on epay, Gunbroker, etc. without success so I think I already know the answer but I thought I would check with you all. Thank ...

Numrich doesn’t have one in stock. Are there other parts houses I can try? Thanks!

Re: Remington 14 1/2R 38wcf cartridges don't load from mag tube 100 percent
Thanks Jim. What about cartridges that are a tad too short? Of the three dummy cartridges one measures 40.06 mm and the other two are 39.65 and 39.8.

Remington 14 1/2R 38wcf cartridges don't load from mag tube 100 percent
Finally after years of ignoring it I am getting my second 14.5 carbine (foolishly traded the first) ready to go to the range. With dummy rounds it will not load the cartridge from the magazine tube into battery every time. I am thinking its a weak magazine spring? But maybe there is something else ...

Re: Where are all the 14R cabines?
Tom,
I see them every once in a while but very rare and pricey. The numbers you provided underline why. Thanks! Hope all is well.

Another 14 1/2R in 38 wcf
Found one about 4 years ago after literally decades of looking - sheer luck. Then again last week another one in the same caliber. Did I need another? Not really, but gawd aren't they the coolest?! This one is in better shape than my last one but it also cost more. Don't have it yet but have to ...

Even more handy in carbine form (although this is 38-40 caliber). I'd second the 100 yard limit.

Is John Henwood still around?
Is John Henwood, author of the Remington Model 8 and 81 book, still alive? I had heard that he passed away but a friend says no. Thanks!

Shot the 14 1/2 carbine today - wow!
Well, I took an extended lunch today and went to the range with my 14 1/2R in 38 wcf. I was using some cowboy action ammo with hard lead cast bullets. Thanks to Tom H. and Jim P.'s generosity and selfless help it functioned flawlessly. The only problem that I had was I had some keyholes to start off ...

Ronnie,
I love history too. The History Channel is my favorite.
I'm no expert when it comes to the model 14 but you can get some idea about these guns at these sites:

rem141,
Thanks for the reply! I was beginning to think that this gun was so rare and unknown that nobody had an opinion about it. By the by, the secret site is "Antiques & Art" - the Aplan's are great folks to deal with - http://www.antiquesandart.com/welcome.htm

My 14 1/2 carbine
I'm posting this wherever Remington fanatics hang out so if you've seen this already then I apologize.
I've been looking for a 14 1/2 carbine (that I can afford) for years in vain. First as we all know there ain't a whole bunch of these out there and second they've gone up to the $2500-3000 range ...
