Re: Remington Model 141 Front Sight

None of my 141s have a front sight like that one. Also looks like it was driven in from left to right, that is also incorrect according to an old Remington catalog.

Re: Model 14 carbine question

Yes, early Model 14s were not stamped with the model number. Value can be estimated by looking at prices paid on some of the internet auction sites or by looking in the blue book of gun values put out each year by Steve Fjestad. It currently lists a value for a 80% carbine at 950, a 90% carbine at 1...

Re: RARE REMINGTON 14

I suspect that you gun is a cut off rifle, all rifles and carbines except some experimental models have the intregal front sight ramp that is machined as part of the barrel. We have records of 60 or more S/N 14s below your S/N and S/N 1000 that all have the normal 22 inch barrel. The expml. models w...

AlanD, after reviewing our emails over the past few years, I found that the letter D was also used and that surplus Model 14.5 DCP guns were picked up at these facalities after the war. Your email ______" On the rifles page you will see that 3857 rifles are held in 4 main locations: Priddys Har...

Re: Model 141?

Looks like you have a 141 barrel, which may be the repair that was made in 1949 as indicated by the date code and the "3". I believe the barrel is 24 inches and it has the ramp front sight base added on. As indicated by "oneoldsap" the stock could have been replaced at that time ...

Re: remington model 14

olskool, Nice looking gun, you did a great job of bringing that one back to life. The 30 Rem is a good deer caliber and the carbine length will give you increased speed to get on target and better handling in thick wooded areas. You have made yourself a great hunting companion. Good luck, ken

Re: First blood for my 141

Question for gunguy56. Do your two early 141s have the 24 inch barrel and the Gamemaster logo stamped on the receiver? My # 2322 does not have either, it is date code DD. Ken Blauch

Re: 141 Peerless Grade D Questions

Romac, I agree with bullet*69 that you have a very nice looking rifle and that it started life as a 141 standard grade gun. I have concerns about the lack of sharpness on the Gamemaster and serial number stampings on the left side of the receiver. Could it have been a favorite gun of a father or gra...

hb,
I'm thinking you have after market wood, but pictures would tell alot. In either case, if you have no documentation, you will always be in doubt.

Re: 760 special order

hb, The repair was done at the end of the 760 production period or 20 some years after that. If the repair was to replace broken stocks, then a 7600 set may have been put on. Do the stocks look like any that the factory has used on later model guns like the Six or 7600? Pictures of the key points, c...

Re: Remington 25/25A

Remington did increase the barrel length of the Model 25 carbine to 18 and one half inches in 1934 to comply with legislation. The one pictured on page 46 of my book on Model 14 and 141s is that long . It is date coded OE, July 1936.

Re: Good deal on a Model 141 ???

269, I have a few questions concerning your 141. 1. Which marking on your gun indicated to you a manf. date of Oct 1935? 2. Are there two date codes on the gun-- WRR3 and DF6, the 6 may be special character? 3. Does it have a 24 inch barrel, measure to the hole in the shellhead? WE are trying to hel...

Re: Confusing Model 141

USMA, Thanks for the pictures, just like you described. The gun looks like a normal Model 14 except for the barrel which is a 141. My guess is that the barrel was replaced at the factory in 1966. It would have been a new barrel, never installed, with no date code. Once installed it would be date cod...
