Re: Remington Model 81 barrel markings
First of all, let me apologize. Having not read carefully, I assumed you had a model 8 and not an 81. DE means the rifle was made in September, 1936 and it was back for repair in May, 1952. There is no way to tell what the repair was. As to the finger grooves, I really have no idea......tom

Re: Remington Model 81 barrel markings
KYY3 means returned to factory for repair in May, 1952. I assume the DE, which could be September of 1936 or 1958, was also a repair date and they did not strike a 3. I have seen other guns with a repair date and no 3 occasionally over the years........tom

Re: Another Model 12 Question
My knowledge comes from Gyde & Marcot's excellent book, Remington 22 Rimfire Rifles. They were at 55104 in 1910 and reached 104041 at the end of 1911. Remington says 831753 was the last number produced but higher numbers above 832000 have been observed. The book tells you everything you ever wan...

Re: Another Model 12 Question
1911. Most target models came with a semi pistol grip stock but about 10% had straight stocks. By 1918 the price was $20.25.

Re: Model 14 barrel address/barrel code
The two line "type 6" barrel code using serial numbers instead of patent dates, was used from 1928 until the end of production in 1935 so your LY=2/30 gun fits in there. Receivers that were made in 1932 include from 126762 to 127267 so your gun would have to have a serial in that area. So ...

Re: Modle 14, 32. cal rem with thumb saftey
I would take the gun shop up on the offer for $500 in trade. It seems fair to me. The safety on your rifle makes it's production from late 1919-1921. Since ammo is no longer made for the gun, you could make your wife very happy with a left hand rifle in a caliber that would have ammo available over ...

Re: Information on Model 12C Rifle
Based on my observation of the model 14s, they had buttplates stamped with a serial on the buttplate that matched a number stamped on the stock. On earlier ones, the stock and buttplate number match each other but not the serial number of the gun. Later guns, like early twenties on generally but not...

745967 was made in 1928. A "C" grade, with the octagon barrel, was called a "target" grade. 31697 guns were made in 1928. This information I am giving all comes from the book on Remington rimfires by Gyde & Marcot. Tom

According to the excellent book by Gyde and Marcot, Remington Rimfire Rifles, your rifle was made in 1913. Serials that year started around 166538 and ended at 238343 for a total production that year of 71805..........tom

Re: Remmington 510 Targetmaster
It appears that no one gave you any answer to your inquiry so let me try and give you some information. I have a 510, made in January, 1941 with a serial of 62069. Production started in March, 1939 and ran until 1962, with none made during the war years, for a total of 558,686 guns produced. My seri...

Re: Remington Model 25 questions
To my knowledge, all of the model 25s had blued action bars. My guess would be that some previous owner modified it. I now have information on over 700 of them, and from pre-production pieces to upper grades, action bars were all blued............tom hemphill@gvtel.com

Re: Question about Remington Model 25s
The only one I have listed for West Cook County on my database is 11949, and it was made in August, 1924. It sold on Little John's Auction a few years ago. It is my understanding that these guns were largely kept in the bank's vault for protection during a robbery. All that I have listed, whether fo...
