Can anyone identify what these stock markings are? They are on a 3-42 dated Remington M1903 A2. Stamped on the underside forward of the trigger guard assembly. Thanks!

Remington M1903 Unusual Barrel Collar
We have all seen this done on nice Remington M1903's, postwar peep sights mounted on these guns to be used as deer rifles. This is a 3-42 marked barrel, serial #3,160,XXX, a pre model A3 and a M1903 'modified' as I believe it is called. It should have the M1905 rearsight collar base as shown below ...
