Need help with a double hammer muzzle loader

Post by 4evrblu »

I realize this is a forum for Remington, but I happen to have two double hammer shotguns, one of which is a Remington mentioned in another one of posts.

The other is an odd little bugger that is a bit longer (and seemingly older) double barrel, double hammer muzzle loader and for the life of me I cannot identify it.

The only marking on it is an engraving stamp on either side of the hammers that says "Williams"

I have done Google after Google and been unable to find anything on Williams.

It appears to be an early to mid 1800's vintage double barrel muzzle loaded shotgun, but not being very knowledgeable I confess this be amateur speculation at best.

Side by side, the wood of the stock and metal of the barrel of both the Williams and my Remington appear to be of the same hue, which to my untrained eye suggests the guns could be of a similar age.

However, with the Williams being a muzzle loader, I surmized it was a bit older than my Remington, which fires a conventional shell, using a manual double-hammer mechanism.

Any ideas on WIlliams?

I have photos of both if needed.
