I have a semi auto Remington 12 ga shot gun s/n 79595 that I am told is circa 1900's. The serial number is on the action just before the magazine. Just wondering if anyone knows model info and a ball park of price range. This belongs to a friend that is interested in selling. Much appreciated.

More detail

12 Ga Semi Auto with safety built into the trigger. (looks like a little trigger infront of the real trigger inside the guard)s/n 79592 printed on the action underside just infront of the magazine. Stamped on the barrel " Manufactured by the Remington Arms Co. Ilion N.Y. USA. Brownings Patents Oct 8, 1900 Dec 17/01 Sept.30.02.June 18.03"

Hard to read whether it's 1900 or 1800. Would they have made a semi auto that early?

Remington Autoloading Gun or Model 11

Post by Researcher »

Designed by the famous John M. Browning, "The Remington Autoloading Gun" was intorduced in the 1906 Remington Arms Co. catalogue. Around the time Remington Arms Company and Union Metalic Cartridge Company were combined in 1911, it became the Remington Model 11. There is a good article on these guns on Remington's web site at --
