old model army

Post by droy »

Hi. I've inherited an 1861 remington conversion that appears to be original and unrestored and I hope to get some guidance as to it's origin. serial #810, cattouche on left handle, letter S on trigger guard behind screw, letters PA on barrel left side next to frame, letters PA on frame left sd in front of cylinder, letter B on frame left side between trigger guard and grip, letter J on frame left side between top screw and hammer.

The markings are very crisp and sharp. The screws are good. Traces of blue remain, edges sharp, wood good. Wear appears consistent and unrestored. Any information is appreciated.

I removed the grips and the serial # is 8107. The 7 isn't clear on the barrel serial #. Barrel length is 8". I assume it's a .44 cal.
