The Remington Autoloading Shotgun was introduced in 1905.

The first ad I've found in Sporting Life
April 7, 1906

June 9, 1906 and already promoted for trap shooting. Remington convinced R.O. Heikes to switch from his Single Trigger Hammerless Double.
An undated photo of Heikes with his VR Autoloading Shotgun. The 1909 Remington catalog listed a matted rib or a ventilated rib ($16) on the autoloading gun. Heikes used a Remington Autoloading Shotgun at both the 1911 and 1912 GAHs, and at both was 2nd in the National Professional Championship of 200 singles. Image courtesy of Chris Lien.

Drew,
Was Chris ever able to date that photo?
I found the ad that I was looking for in a Sante Fe Employee's Magazine.
Not sure how to properly give publishing credit if it's just Name of Publication in Italics and denote issue date than I will try to post.

Not to my knowledge Will.
If an image was created prior to 1923 it is now considered to be in the Public Domain, unless you are copying a copyrighted image. It is a good idea to list the source ie. Forest & Stream, Jan. 7 1909.

Re: 1st Remington Autoloading Shotgun Ad in Sporting Life
Having lots of time on my hands, I thumbed all the way through my bound volume of The American Field for July through December 1905. This little blurb in appeared in July --
While I didn't see a Remington Arms Co. ad in the entire six months, this ad began appearing every week beginning in the August 26th issue --
In the December 30 issue is this picture in which it appears to me that the gent in the back seat is holding a JMB autoloading shotgun --
Whether it is a Remington or a Browning I certainly can't tell.

The earliest I picked up on the Browning Automatic was in the Western Field publication in mid to late 1903.
Here are some of my favorite RAS ads!
