id a revolver

hello there is a remington cap and ball revolver that i'm trying to pin down.serial #93006
any info would be helpful.from looking at catalogues it may be an army or navy revolver.it has the remington data on the top of the barrel,but it is hard to read.the serial # is under the ram arm. thanks r. king

My "shoot from the hip" reponse is tht you have a New Model Army revolver in .44 cal percussion. Measure the length of the barrel from front of cylinder to end of barrel. 8 inches, Army and would be .44 cal., 7 1/2 inches, Navy and would be in .36 cal. Navy serial number range will not approach 90000. If your revolver bears the military final inspection cartouche, it would have been delivered to the Ordnance Department in August 1864. If it failed inspection, it would have entered the commercial market at anytime after that.
